"Anuj..."
He turned around to see her walking inside his room and gave a smile. Nowadays, she entered the room announcing her arrival instead of asking for permission as she used to do before. He liked the change, he reckoned. He was buttoning up his shirt as she entered and she stopped short at the sight. He was working on the second button from the top, only the top two buttons were open and she mentally scolded herself for not coming a few minutes before to catch him just before he wore the shirt. However much she tried, she always missed the chance. He looked at the shades of red playing on her face and smirked.
"You know... I can undo the buttons instead of doing them up if you want, Mohatarma... but I have to leave in 10 minutes. Will you be satisfied with a quick sneak peek?"
She gave him a glare as he read her mind perfectly. She walked towards him, slapped away his hand and did the buttons up herself.
"Bholuram... I would have been satisfied had you kept your mouth shut..."
He pretended to zip his mouth.
"Sorry..."
He leant over and placed a soft peck on her cheek. She smiled as the place where his lips touched turned a beautiful shade of red. As the hall clock chimed 8 times, she suddenly remembered why she was here.
"Anuj... something is wrong..."
"About Mukku?"
She nodded.
"I can't put my finger on it but there is something off... it's new years eve and Aarav still hasn't contacted her... why? You said he would contact her...."
"Patience is a virtue, Mohatarma..."
She hit him a little.
"Come on... what have you planned..."
"He will come, Anu... he wanted to give her some time... coming in front of her after 10 years so suddenly... he wanted to give her some time to process... I understood his feeling... I trust the kid, Anu... don't worry he will come..."
"Ok... it's just that..."
"Mukku seems off... yes I noticed it too... she is drowning herself too much in that Vanika project... too much for my liking..."
Anu put her hand on his arms.
"Do you think Mr. Shah is playing some game?"
"If he is, he would be sorry... I have already drafted the paperwork wherein I have made Mukku as the sole owner of Vanika and Vanraj as an employee. The legal team is looking into it... you know to check for loopholes. Once it's ready, I will get Mukku to sign it."
"That's wonderful... This way, we can chuck him out anytime he tries to get out of line..."
Anuj nodded and looking at her serious face, he gave a smile.
"Everything will be alright soon, Mohatarma... don't you worry... by the way... you just mentioned it's New Years Eve..."
"Haan... so?"
He leant close to her.
"Well... since we kissed under the mistletoe on Christmas Eve... can I expect something for New Years Eve too."
She blushed and pushed him away.
"I have to get ready... I have to go to the academy before coming to the office, we have to attend the office party today evening, remember?"
"Ah the party..."
"Mmmm hmmm..."
"Hmmm... I have no mood for it..."
"Why?"
"I wanted to welcome the new year alone with you..."
"Maybe you still can..."
She bit her lower lip and lowered her lashes. He reached out, grabbed her elbow and pulled her towards him. As her body hit his, he wrapped his hand around her waist.
"Can I?"
She wrapped her hands around his neck and looked into his eyes.
"Mmm hmmm..."
"What must I do for that?"
She stood on her toes and pecked on his cheek before pulling apart and turning away from him.
"You need to figure that out by yourself..."
He pulled her back again and her back hit his torso. He bent a little and positioned his lips to her ears. Opening his mouth, he whispered huskily
"If I do... what will I get... as a reward..."
As his voice played havoc with her senses, she uttered the first sentence that made it's way to her mouth.
"You get to kiss any part of me you want to..."
His grip on her loosened as the words sunk in his brain. Vivid images that he had long considered a sin, flashed in front of his eyes. She trembled a little as she grasped the meaning of what she had just uttered. Excitement filled the pits of her stomach and her chest heaved at an alarming rate as she realized he would definitely get the reward. Knowing what exactly would be the course of his thoughts now, she took long strides to walk away from him when she heard his voice barely a sigh
"When will I get to kis...?"
He stopped and bit his tongue, checking in his words. She giggled and said
"Patience is a virtue, Bholuram ji..."

The lights in the academy were off. She wondered why. Samar had promised to be there. She snapped on the lights to see Samar sitting in one corner, his head on his knees. She rushed to him.
"Samar... Samar... beta.."
He looked up at her, his eyes red with unshed tears and threw his arms around her. She stroked his back placing kisses on his head.
"It's ok... I am here."
He looked up at her.
"Mummy..."
"Yes?"
"Mummy... Nandini left..."
"Left?"
He nodded.
"That day after the Christmas party, she said we were always fighting so we needed to break up..."
"Then..."
"I tried Mummy... really really tried... but she left... and she is not coming back..."
She hugged him tight and pursed her lips to control the natural anger that had risen up against the girl who has broken her little boy's heart. Knowing quite well, her son hung on to her words like a prayer and one wrong emotion from her would make him do the extreme, she composed herself. Slowly pulling away from him, she wiped away his tears.
"Samar, sometimes things don't work the way we want it to. If she felt captive in your relationship, it's better you let her go. She is gone, that chapter in your life is closed now. I don't know if it would ever open again... but you do have the entire book. Write a new chapter, son... and make it a success. I will always be behind you cheering you along the way..."
He gave a small smile and got up to leave when she said
"When will I get my Rockstar son back?"
"I need some time, Mummy..."
"You have all the time in the world, son... just promise me my Rockstar will be back..."
"Someday... maybe..."
