Lost my father on 31st Jan this year......has been very hard so far....not a single day has gone by without me crying my heart out....miss him so badly....this was the first time he was not there physically with us...such a miserable feeling

aww....your first Father's Day without your Dad..💔..I know it must be extremely difficult💔😒...They say that when a parent is lost ....a part of our heart goes with them.....I hope time will help you heal and give you the strength to cope with it better....the hurt never really goes away...we just learn how to deal with it...🤗🤗

I have a crappy father, and that is putting it mildly. The emotional abuse he inflicted and continues to inflict, where the sad reality is I communicate with him for my mom only.

So to everyone who has a wonderful dad, or who has lost a wonderful dad - you are so lucky to have experienced what a dad is, not a father. Wishing you and your wonderful dads a very Happy Father's Day

And a shout out to my FIL...for becoming my dad ❤️

For all the good Dads there are, there are also the crappy and abusive fathers or the non-existent/absent ones. Thanks, Donnybrook, for your nice wishes (and - from the heart - my best wishes to get a Dad in your father-in-law).

BI, yes, the time we had together, was very intense and rooted in the present being together (not in the absence of a relation in the past). I even got the blessing to be with him throughout the last days of his life. So, father's day is every day I think of him, I send a flying kiss to the sky for him, I thank him for being one of my guardian angels and a spiritual/emotional support. :)

Thanks dear....they say time is the best healer...let us see if I am able to recover.....this is really something beyond control of us humans😭

As you said friend, we learn to deal with it..hope it happens soon otherwise I fear I would slip into depression soon.

regalla, do you think your dad would like if you get into a depression for something that is beyond both of your control?

The feeling of loss and longing is something natural...however, the way you deal with it, is your personal way...if you are one to be able to smile even in sadness because of the good things you remember, then there won't be depression. And if your father loved you on earth, his love will survive and support you.

The truth is, time doesn’t heal wounds, but it teaches you to accept and live with it. How you decide to live with it will depend solely on you. It’s been almost 15 years for me and I still struggle. Losing a parent is a kind of pain you’ll never be prepared for. I promise you though, one day you’ll be able to smile through the tears. The strength of your fathers love will support you for the rest of your life. The love I received for the first 16 years of my life is enough to carry me through a lifetime.

I pray that it helps you too. ❤️

okay, while we're sharing stories ...

my dad once parked his car outside my college dorm while waiting for me. He was there to pick me up on a Friday evening cuz I was going home that weekend. He had the windows rolled all the way down and was on the phone talking someone's ears off ... he naturally has a really loud voice and everyone around him and in the hallway of my building could hear him. including me!

I panicked and packed my bags really quickly, pretending to not know what others were complaining about. he had everyone totally baffled. I couldn't have hurried out of there fast enough!

am very sorry for the loss that folks have suffered and have mentioned here... and for the difficult relationships others have had with their fathers. Don't have words to say how sad that made me feel.
