The Walking Dead S10
I vacillate with the Walking Dead. On one hand, I feel the show got repetitive and egregiously violent. But on the other hand, the primal fight for survival can suck you in.
The Whisperers War was brutal and engaging. Carol was in unpredictable beast mode. Negan kept you on your feet. Alpha gave you chills. And Judith is amazing.
The bonus episodes to bridge to season 11 were dull and boring. I guess they cater to folks who wanted less violence and more character development. And while I appreciate the character development with Carol, Daryl etc - I'm here for the primal survival.
Ted Lasso S2
I found the season slower, duller, and not as feel good. It was nice to see Jamie Tartt's reformation and Sam's growth and confidence. But I wish there was more for Danny Rojas. Roy Kent also felt just like a lost angry man.
I'm torn about the Rebecca Sam relationship. I feel like it should raise red flags due to the power dynamic. But I can't help but find it sweet and satisfying. After all, they both connected after texting extensively anonymously on a dating app. It was a genuine connection.
I just hated Nathan and his arc all season. The finale made me want to punch him.
The Ted Lasso and Dr. Fieldstone dynamic was intriguing and the whole season carries the important message of mental health in sports. But the execution felt dull.
Peacemaker
The show is absolutely bizarre, bonkers, and deranged in a totally James Gunn kind of way. It treads the fine line between mind-numbingly dumb and genius to give an entertaining show. I didn't quite care for Peacemaker after he killed Rick Flagg, but he's growing on me so much. John Cena is an untapped comic talent. But holy Cormac McLaggen, Freddie Stroma is a whole new level of deadpan humor.
While it doesn't hit the high notes of THE Suicide Squad, it makes for dang good TV.
And that opening sequence!!!!
