Also it BLEW my mind that Banni has laad-dulaar-mamta as a part of her character sketch? Khud she's so young, and they have written these character traits in context of her dynamic with her future love interest?

Why do no women on TV not wanna be moms 😭😭

Need more childfree representation 😂

Uff... The baby fever is making me queasy as well. 😳

Kids are great but not for everyone 🙂

Also tht show is problematic on so many levels ki kya kahen? And it's only be 2 episodes so maybe it's too soon, but i can't mister the courage to watch the 2nd episode as well 👀

Lol, episodes 2 ho ya 2000, galat is galat. That show is MAX creepy bro. We're supposed to cheer for Banni when she is forcing kheer down his throat? EWW?

Also how can you write one character to be like... maternal and "yuvaan ki dhaal" and then later ship them? It's disgusting.

Babies are great yaar, I am an aunt to niblings I'd give my life for, but I'd also not have my own, ever, just personal preference. And it's exhausting to me how ALL women in ITV without fail are falling over themselves to be mothers. In context of how these plots play out, it just makes me uncomfortable af- like it's now no longer "woke" to have being a wife be a woman's sole goal, so maa banna is life ki one and only biggest achievement, and it's mahaan, and ek token career thama diya.

Kinjal had a pregnancy scare last year, and she was not keen and apprehensive, which I found interesting.

Not all happy endings need to end with a baby na?

Agree maha creepy hai, but i was saying in the context that maybe it was unintentional? But given track record of this PH, (you know about pehredaar Piya ki? - the pedo show they started in Sony i think) it could be intentional too.

And they're not trying to be subtle with romance angle too, it could be platonic now, and romantic later but making him remince his mom when the girl is running behind him is creepy beyond redemption.

Itv FLs thinking being a mother is endgame for them is actually for the acceptance of the target audience.

ITV is made keeping housewives in mind, and they sacrifice their career/ ambition for family and it's comfort/ peace. They relate more to women on screen who give up career for family.

Ambitious women like kavya, rishita et all are villianized for entertainment 👀

Lol I was legit thinking of pehredaar only- same PH? I'm not surprised! They figured that the issue was the age of the kid, so age bada ke uski mental age reduce kar di, same plot dikhaane ko- "kya banni banegi yuvaan ki dhaal?"

Intense michmichi bro.

Obviously, abhi chahe platonic rahe, ultimately romantic angle aayega, and it's just... really gross to have the relationship transition from being maternally coded to romantically coded.

I hope this show flops man, I've never rooted so hard AGAINST a show right from the beginning (except, lol, Imlie...) but yeah...it's a record to be itna gross itna quick🤦🏻‍♀️

Yeah...there should be a middle ground IMO. And it's a CLEAR regress in these aspects, there was a much more varied repository of content a decade back. Ab bas...yehi sab chalta rehta hai.

I understand the target audience- for instance, Id love to see abortion discussed as a valid option, but ITV ke limitations pata hain.

But they don't even...idk how to put it. Okay, Imlie could have been apprehensive about the pregnancy- she's twenty, it was unplanned, etc. I think that would be relatable to anyone who's had an unplanned pregnancy. But nahi, they show this kid as being absolutely calm and immediately excited at the idea of having a baby at this point.

Which, as a single show, is totally fine. I'd stop watching, but it is what it is, big deal. But the general trend these few weeks is a bit...eh 🤷🏻‍♀️. Like Banni paida hi hui hai with Mamta. Anupamaa ki identity refuses to be grown beyond maa. And so on 🙄

Yeah. I hope this shuts shop sooner, so it can traumatize lesser people.

By platonic, i meant they could've shown them in light of friends, ye maternal thing is very gross. I mean a husband is always expected to protect his wife but that is never given a paternal twist ever.

Same way, nothing wrong with wife being protector of husband for a change, but the maternal tag makes it really gross.

Ah! I never gave 2 hoots bahut imlie before, i tried to discourage my mom to see it before, but didn't work so stopped 🤷

But maybe it was for good, otherwise i wouldn't have run across ASR so soon 😂

Exactly! Platonic, protective would work- but they're specifically coding it maternal, playing into all 'maa' waale tropes.

Lol, Imlie was the only ITV show ho dadi nahi dekhti, she was like "too gross" shuru se, so I was like haan, I'm sure it's terrible 🤭 because woh kuch bhi dekh leti hain

So if you remember the decade old EK shows, the FLs all had career at some point or other.

Prime example Prerna 1.0 (ignoring other problematic aspects of the show) was shown a working woman throughout the show, apart from juggling marriages, saving lover/husband from vamps and having n number of kids.

That kind of balance can be shown. 🤷

Yes, they could've really shown apprehension on imlie about being preggers, but given her background, her need for own family, it's not surprising she behaves that way. It satisfies her fairytale dream of perfect family. Even if she is ambitious about her Career, she is secure that career and family are not mutually exclusive with aryan by her side. So it doesn't make me uncomfortable per se.

Yup, Imlie in isolation won't have bothered me. But the way the baby fever is playing out on this show and in others...I'm not for it. Khair I have toh not watched a single scene since Dhruv tara, and happy to leave it at that, inko inka baby mubarak ho 😂
