I was a little puzzled by the dialogue but then again Akshu's dialogue in the way she was asking was also like she was seeking permission to do something.
I think what Abhi was trying to say is you never have to ask/take my permission to go or do something for yourself. Basically saying that he trusts her but he also knows she wouldn't do something crazy because she isn't the type. Also Akshu would tell him anyways about stuff she isn't one to hide things.
He also just made her promise she wasn't going to go and change his family and she agreed. So there isn't a worry she would be planning something big again without him knowing.
