Part-1
EXHAUSTION⌠MIND-NUMBING EXHAUSTION!
Thatâs what Priya had been feeling for over a week. Perhaps it was the pressure of not just going to her college but also now helping her husband in running their business⌠She smiled as she thought about how far they had come from where they started, so much so that now everything in their life was conjoined and had the label of âTHEIRâ.
But back to her exhaustion⌠perhaps it wasnât the work pressure but a consequence of Ramâs ministrations that often lead to their night-long frolicking under the sheets. She blushed as she played in her head the scenes from their first night when he made her feel like a goddess, not once but six times over. He was right in promising to her that night that âit will only get better with timeâ because it indeed did.
Their intimacy, their heated passion, their eyes that held that evident canât-keep-my-hands-off-you fireâ all this had led them to this point where even a clearing of his throat and simple triple-tap on the table after dinner by Ram made her lips to twitch into a subtle knowing smile because that was their secret cipher for a fixation. They hadnât really talked about this being their code⌠but somehow, it just seeped into their system and their routine. Perhaps, it was their common incessant need to be as discreet as possible about their love life that had led them to establish and understand each otherâs subtle unspoken words and gestures.
Her Mr. Kapoorâ as she still called him in public because he had demanded from her to call him Ram only within the four walls of their roomâ knew how to make her go weak in her knees with just one heated glance. He knew how to make her a putty in his hands by simply peppering a trail of sloppy kisses along the line of her nape as he would hold her from behind and press his erection to her back. He often called her HIS VENUS... HIS GODDESS OF LOVE, and boy did he really enthusiastically endeavored to prove that title by the way he worshipped her in their bed.
But were their love-making sessions just about portrayal of physical love? Was it just physical pleasure that he gave her? No... he wasnât a man of too many words but with the way he enraptured her, he pleasured and satiated not just her body but also her head, heart and soul... making their intimacy a beautiful and heady amalgamation of physical and abstract love- which made their love and relationship feel so beautiful and lovely and made their love to grow ten folds with every passing day.
In Ram, Priya found both- her soulmate and twinflame. Her Mr. Kapoor knew how to make her fall for him every day in a new and a better way, leaving her entranced⌠He loved her beyond what could be considered humanly possible and while she loved him back, too, she didnât think she could ever even compete with him in matters of love. He was a special creation of God and she truly believed she could never win against him in matters of love... She smiled, thinking that perhaps there would come a day when she could give him something so worthy and symbolic of their love, that he'd know how much he meant to her... to show him that to her he was more precious than the sun, the moon and all the stars he promised to bring to her feet if she asks for it.
Perhaps, that day she could come equal to him, if not more, in loving him the way he loved her. While she was lost in her train of thoughts, her body decided to remind her of how she was feeling so miserably sick and exhausted by replacing the smile of her lips with a yawn that escaped her lips followed by a sigh of frustration at how sick she felt!
Itâs been this way for the past two weeksâŚand it wasnât just exhaustion, she could also feel herself turning into a puddle of emotions, with her moods changing faster than one could blink their eyes.
Just last week, Ram had asked her if they could go out for a movie but damn! Her horrible exhaustion! She had refused to him with her favourite word NO in quite a straightforward way because that day too she didnât have the energy in her body to go out again after coming back home from work and hitting her comfy bed. But when she said ânoâ, Ram really got annoyed, made a grumpy face and passed on a few sarcastic remarks to Priya which made... âThe Khadoosâ Mrs. Kapoor from Bandra to cry like a baby.
Ram had been so horrified seeing her break into a weeping mess that he literally forgot the movie and his rant and put in all his efforts to make her stop crying. He was confused and so was she⌠she still is! His bemusement made sense because the world knew Priya was the type of who would never crib or cry over trivial matters⌠then what was happening to her now? Only time would tell...
âŚâŚ...
Just this morning, they had an another encounter with the uncharacteristically emotional Priya. She remembered the morning in their bedroom:
Priya and Ram were getting ready for the day⌠of course while Ram was full of energy and happyâyou know because they had a very âgoodâ night the previous nightâ Priya, on the other hand didnât even feel like getting out of bed and yet she did because she had never been one of those people who stay at home for petty reasons like exhaustion and laziness, and, she wasnt about to start doing that now either no matter how hard it seemed to drag her body out of bed. She gathered all her courage and willed herself to get out of bed, get in the shower and get dressed up for the day, even though she also felt a little dizzy in the shower, which she shrugged off as probably an effect of the HOT WATER SHOWER she was taking in the pursuit of trying to get rid of her body's soreness.
While she sat at the dressing table, putting on her minimal make-up and jewellery, Ram, who must have noticed her pale face, came up behind her and held her by her shoulders to make her face him, as he asked:
âPriya, are you alright? You look so pale! Did I tire you out a little too much last night! I am sorry, if thatâs the case, my love!â
âWhat are you saying Ram! You know I thoroughly enjoyed myself last night⌠and honestly I am fine.â
âThen your pale face? Priya, itâs been over a week and you look so pale and sick⌠why donât we just go to the doctorâs? Heâll check you up, run some tests and prescribe you some medicine andâŚâ
âCalm down Mr. Kapoor! CALM DOWN! I am fine⌠and I definitely donât need doctors or medicines. You, anyway, eat medicines like itâs food. Do you also want me to turn into Priya Medicine Kapoor!â
âButâŚâ
âNo ifs and no buts Ram! Please trust me, I am fine. Ya! Maybe a little exhausted⌠but itâs probably because of all the work pressure from college and office.â
âThen why donât I take some office work load off you for a few days. And you can rest up.â
âCome on Ram! I am not a weakling. Youâve given me this project and I will work on it⌠I want to make you proud of me. Let me do this please!â
âPriyaaaa! ItâsâŚ*sigh* okay! Listen to me. You donât need to prove anything to anyone. And you certainly donât need to make me proud because I am already very proud of you, my love. But if you work like a maniac to the extent of falling sick⌠thatâs something I canât tolerateâ
âLook who is talking. Need i remind you who took to bed a night before our first Diwali together because of over-work? Ram, you saying that I over-work myself feels like the kettle is calling the pot back.â, said Priya as she scoffed and smiled a weak tired smile.
âButâŚâ
And thatâs it, her fuse blew off... Told you, moody AF!
âMr. Kapoor, please⌠can you please just shut up and let me be! Why are you so bent on irritating me this morning? I am already exhausted. I didnât have the energy to shower or even get out of bed this morning. I was dizzy in the shower and now my head feels heavy and on top of that you⌠if I said I am alright, why canât you just listen to me. What if? What but? What doctor? What medicine? Bas kijiye! I am tired of listening to your charade and itâs literally stressing me out now. I beg you, Mr. KapoorâŚ. LET ME BE and Please donât add to my stress with your constant pestering! I JUST donât have the energy to take it!â And saying so, she turned away from him and began to cry!
A befuddled Ram looked at his wife as if she were an alien who was being funny and sarcastic a moment ago, then transformed into that little angry bird and now started to cry like a five year old.
Uff! Her mood swingsâŚ
Priyaâs mention of â feeling dizzy in the shower" didnât go past his notice, but he knew his wife bery well... and so he also knew that if he presses on the matter more right now, things might go out of his hands. He knew he had to take her to the doctor... and quickly he made up his mind to talj to her about it when she was a little more calm, perhaps over a dinner date in the evening. But for now his priority was to console his wife who was crying like a little child.
He hugged Priya with hope to stop her from shedding more tears and whispered sweet nothings in her ears till she stopped crying. Once her sobs subsided into soundless whimpering, he made her sit on the couch in their room and sat on his hunches in front of her and said to her as he held her hand that was now on her lap, âPriya, itâs okay! I am sorry. I shouldnât have been so domineering. But I am just worried about you, love. You look so pale and frail these days you donât eat your meals properly, but just pick on your food like a sparrow, you say you are exhausted all the time and now you say you also felt sick in the shower. But itâs fine⌠if you donât want to go to doctor, weâll not go. Perhaps it just the changing weather that's wearing you down. But, you have to promise me that youâll take care of yourself and if you feel even the slightest need to go to the doctor, youâll tell me. Promise?â
A whimpering Priya, with her eyes still cast on the ground, murmured, âI promiseâ as she nodded her head.
Now as she sat replaying this morning scene in her head, she sighed and remembered how she didnât dare tell him that she was again feeling a little dizzy after her sob session, for, if sheâd have done so, he would have either made her stay at home or taken her to the doctorâŚand she wouldnât have been sitting as of this while in her office of Kapoor Industries.
She had not seen Ram or his friends the whole day from the moment they came to the office, for, she spent the whole day in her office as she sat working on her husbandâs dream project that he gave her to work on. But now she was exhausted beyond her wits⌠a yawn escaped her lips as she laid her head back on the headrest of her plush leather chair⌠she had no idea why she was feeling so under the weather. But it was getting on her nerves now. She hated being being a lazy person and this unreasonable exhaustion was bringing out the best of her laziness. And as if on a cue, her phone pinged with a new message⌠just the tune told her it was from her husband.
As she read the message, she let out another sigh.
Her husband was feeling guilty for acting like a domineering man in the morning and wanted to take her out for a movie and a dinner tonight⌠immediately after their office hours would be over. *sigh* Down went the drain, her plans to go home early and sleep till he came back in a hope to regain some energy for when her husband would come home to show him that she was indeed fine.
She couldnât even refuse him because if she did, sheâd have to give him reasons⌠and the reason she had was one that would colossally worry himâ her exhaustion! Urgh! How much she hated that word simply because these days that was the one word that fogged her brains 24*7.
She took a deep breath as she replied to her husband, âAlright, Ram! See you at 5.â
It was as if he had his phone in his hand at that moment waiting for her reply, âGreat! Thank you love. I promise to make it an enjoyable evening for youâ
âEnjoyable⌠huh!â⌠thought Priya who was in no mood to enjoy an outing but just wanted to sleep but had agreed to the programme just for her husbandâs happiness. She might not be able to fully enjoy whatever he had planned for her but she would make sure that he enjoys himself and not see through her exhausted soul. And thinking this, she got down to her work again till it was 5 and time for her to go upto his office floor.
