Hmmm.. According to me.. the devi thing is all symbolic to respecting women.. but yes they need to be respected as human beings.. and not as goddesses.. but that is something very deeply ingrained in Indian culture..so it is probably very difficult to get rid of that notion..but acknowledging that a woman need not always be a devi was a good step in my opinion.. yours might differ and that's completely alright na.. different perspectives of the same thing!

I would actually want them to scrap off kanyadan and bidaai the entire thing about a girl being treated as a commodity that is being donated or sent away.. and the way these rituals are glorified..

No offence to any culture/custom.. but this is my opinion..

I want to share something on this statement.

It's about 15 years back, my friend's mother did not do kanyadaan of her daughter ( in fact of any daughter). According to her, her daughters are not koi vastu, jo mai daan mei doon. she was just 10th pass. Despite being less qualified, She ran cooking and baking classes, did a lot for women-trained them in Knitting sweaters on machines, and made them self-reliant.

She is no more; but seriously, I have not seen such a bold, confident lady who went against all the customs, her conservative family for her daughters.

Yes you are right that in Indian culture women are expected to behave in certain ways. And if they don't then they are termed as charitraheen. Even men are supposed to be the family's bread earner. I don't agree with that also. But a woman's reputation gets degraded 10 times more than a man for any mistake. And the greatest daan anyone can give is their little girl (children are always little in their parents eyes) to someone else. The ritual of Kanyadaan is ripe with deep religious symbolisms. The groom is considered a representation of Lord Vishnu all through the wedding, and during Kanyadaan the parents are offering their daughter, a considerable piece of their existence, for his taking. This is considered to be the greatest offering one can present to the Supreme Being.

Now ofcourse the time and era has changed and rituals and rules should be according to that. Unfortunately marriage has become a business where they offer the groom and bride as a commodity. In my opinion the actual meaning of Kanyadaan has lost its meaning and importance in today's time.

I seriously do not know if it should be scraped or not as some people still hold those values. But human life should be stopped being treated as a commodity. Also any human being be a male/female/transgender should be treated as a human and nothing else.

That fan pic of hers (BTS) aaj ka shows a saree change. Even Paras ka yesterday bts had Nidhi in a diff dress - so going by that haldi shoot has ended.

They said aaj haldi and kal shaadi and babuji says ki shaadi tak sab saath rahenge or something toh they are probably going for some HAHK set up like antakshari raat mein.

Now that’s when babuji ka health may worsen and immediate surgery. That should go on for a week or so (guessing this track should start wed or thurs)

Toh next week mid se uske baad wale week tak this (which will take us to May 25th or so). And we may end up seeing the wedding post ipl

But Ekta Mukku will leave na for Khatro ke Khiladi. They are supposed to leave by 27th May. So its quite possible she would leave 3-4 days before. Also in DKP's other show the Shaadi started after 2 days of haldi
