i think you just made me realize something. when we first started watching Anupamaa, it fell into quality programming with a social message. im not saying that it was National Geographic, but there was substance.
unfortunately, after anuj's character was introduced that love angle took off like mad and they made the decision to take the show to trashy tv (akin to bold and beautiful or Y&R).
let's call a spade a spade here - the TRPs were much higher before Anuj and really and truly this story did not need a love angle. at least not at that stage. i was happy watching it just to see her power thru all of the bs. or maybe anuj needed to stay her friend a little longer?
not sure, but its hard to believe that the same people who gave us the first year and half of this show are the ones writing it now.
but i guess this is the timeline of every single ITV show ever that is not finite from the get go
TRPs were there before his track but the track was beginning to get stagnant post divorce. So ok, they introduced Anuj to bring in a spark. And it worked. Great. They wanted to show love angle with a msg that it’s never to late to find love. Great.
Beating the odds - great. Although unnecessary drama that surrounded it could’ve been avoided.
Anuj would’ve stayed a friend longer if the makers would’ve used a little bit of their head and not ruined the whole image of him. Surely their initial script did not show him weak and a mere lover boy no? So what changed? Who asked them? The TRPs were doing its thing. Then what? The popularity hurt?
Ok it did fine, then what was the need to butcher alllll other characters? All they could’ve done is better ONE DAMN character! But no. Let’s spoil the story line and serve garb in name of social message.
Tv shows eat and breathe drama and they need this to drag like you mentioned but yaar what is this drama? Tv dramas usually don’t have any logic. They are nonsensical tracks but that’s when the genre of the show is such. But this wasn’t that no? I guess I will forever be salty with the makers for ruining something that they termed will be different unless they prove otherwise.
And yes I agree it is very hard to believe that these are the same people who gave us beautiful episodes till Jan 2022. Cannot even begin to pinpoint how bad this writing/execution etc has gotten.
