But for details, Pick Valmiki Ramayan with translation into your mother tongue… how well ever they translate, some nuances are always lost from the original…

if your Sanskrit basic is good, even plain Valmiki Ramayan can be read, but requires multiple reads…

Then there is Ramacharitamanas… alternate versions, Ananda Ramayan, and there are various commentaries written in connection with other mythologies, you can explore them later…

But there is one by bhawan’s publications, that I read before valmiki’s about 200 pgs, you will get all the gist… no exaggeration…
