All through Acharya’s promotional campaign, there was no mention of Kajal Aggarwal, who was initially roped in to play Chiranjeevi’s love interest in the film. None of the principal cast and crew spoke about Kajal at the recent pre-release event and this raised more doubts.
Now, the captain of the ship, Koratala Siva himself has confirmed that Kajal’s role has been edited out from Acharya’s final cut.
“I first penned a fun role for Kajal. But in the narrative-wise, Chiranjeevi garu’s character cannot have a love interest or a love track. I then decided to chop off Kajal’s role. It wasn’t quite blending in. Also, it wouldn’t have been wise to give a very brief role to an actress of Kajal’s stature.”
Koratala said. The star director went on to add that he personally explained the situation to Kajal and made her understand why he had to chop off her portion in the film. He said the actress understood the situation and reacted positively.
