Hi all,

Why does guls hero of grumpy and borderline abusive ML and sunshine FL work easily.... not in guls shows it's mostly the case even in other shows sometimes more sometimes less.. imlie 2.0 also proved it .

Are we audience both online and offline used to it that we make it work ... does it satisfy the trp target aunty audience too...

Or is it just plain opposites attract....

I mean is it just for trp that everytime its rinse and repeat of the same trope ..

Are we audience stuck in a regressive mode of accepting the same trope again and again....

@Bold To simply put...It attracts the audience, And you will be surprised to know that shows like Imlie has quite younger audiences compared to other shows, They share big part in gaining TRPs too. About accepting same trope again and again, You see this is not pan India phenomenon, But world phenomenon. To sum it up if you look at the K-Drama, Thai-Lakorns, Pakistani-Drama, Turkish-Drama you will find the same..

Personally it doesn't work all the time. Like you said all the shows under this banner are somewhat similar, but i haven't watched any of them,

I've watched and addicted to geet.

I've watched ipk 1, not so much addicted

After that fast forward to 2019 watched nazar.

Imlie 1.0 was completely different, but never struck a cord as well.

Imlie 2.0 did.

In this trope I've watched bade achhe 1.0, punarvivah 1.0 and Jodha Akbar, like them all.

But no other show.

I think it’s all about the chemistry .... bus leads main chemistry ho ... gul is lucky with the leads she casts ... also beauty and the beast age old charm ... there is just something about the soft prince with the beast intensity underneath the beast ❤️☺️

I will say this is something in huge demands... as one reply had already said it's across the world which is absolutely true.

I will add the written fictions too why did 50 shades of Grey made it big? There was the choice of guy being wanting to have dominant submissive games. And mind it he is the dominant one in the relationship. The wattpad stories, holding arms with force is cute... also how about the famous Japanese KABEDON?

Its a phenomenon which people likes in every kind of love story related fiction Bridgerton series is also and example... but when it comes to real life no one likes it😊

Indian series like madhubala or ipkk2 those had audiences only coz they had shown such storylines... sad but true😵

There is a reason why beauty and the beast still remains one if the most popular and debated children stories. Its not just fir itv. Its popular for literature too. Pride and prejuduce , wuthering heights and rebecca have been adapted and sold over generations. The appeal lies in the charm of taming a beast with golden heart. Coming back to itv shows, they handle the fact that the hero is abusive towards thr heroine in such a manner that it appears to the audience that its not abusive but battle of wills. Classic example is khushi n arnav from ipk. This opposite attracts and battle of wills makes the story attractive to the audience. Its also a delicate balance to maintain between the characters. The hero has to be grumpy to all and abusive only to heroine. For everybody except the heroine he would have heart of gold. So obviously it must be something the heroine is doing to make hero behave so. Heroine has to be a doormat for everybody but only get a spine to stand against the hero. i am guilty of loving this troupe a lot and also having a separate bookshelf of similar romance books. I think the Idea of an alpha male won over by a female just attracts us.

I would like to say this though does Aryan fall into the category of Gul’s regular alpha abusive ML? I would say he is uber alpha but not abusive!
