That is because people in India have discovered that a woman has value even if she is past 16 and no longer a sexual virgin. They have learned that there is no expiration date stamped on humans and that the talent or worth of a female is not contingent on what males may think, because women are no longer part of an owners herd.

Female education and female financial independence has a lot to do with the change by the way, because women can and do empower other females.

Plus let us hope people learn to separate performers from the deities they worship and finally learn that performers are only: people who are entertainers & who's personal life and matters have nothing to do with the career or work they do.
