Because Kangana signs only female-driven projects and those are very hard to sell, her films post-TWMR were Katti Batti, Simran, Rangoon, Manikarnika, Judgementall Hai Kya, Panga and Thalaivii. She was pretty good in all of them, excellent especially in Simran and JHK but these films are not something that the audience is rushing to see in theatres. Manikarnika was semi-hit , and still has records for the highest weekend for a female centric film(43 cr) and highest single day (18cr), but because of reshoots and all, the film was a total mess apart from her performance and hence started dropping from Monday onwards. Thalaivii had a delayed release with no multiplexes, and it was again wasn't a well-written film. Every other "hit" actress is tagging along with A list actors and studios, I mean Katrina has so many hits but then her solo films like fitoor don't even make 20 cr lifetime. Even vidya went through a phase like this after kahaani with flops like begum jaan, bobby jasoos, Hamari adhuri kahaani, ghanchaakar etc, until she got a moderate solo hit in tumhari sullu. Even sherni would have flopped a BO but that doesn't make vidya a lesser actress in my opinion. As per what's next for kangana, she has two films ready to release this year (dhaakad and Tejas), both are action based. She has her first production venture tiku weds sheru coming this year too. She has Emergency, Sita and Didda (Manikarnika sequel) in the pipeline that'll be going on floors this year too, so she is pretty busy. An actor like Kangana will always find work and opportunities.
