That scene just breaks my heart whenever I watch it.
I wasn't part of the discussion in the forum then, but oh how I wish I had someone to freak out with.
The transition of ASR being a hard-hitting truth teller, to this soft and gentle wall of support was absolutely amazing. That scen was a well done scene.

I am rewatching old episodes and since I was not part of forum when these episodes aired, I wanted to relive and discuss some scenes that hooked me to the show.
The first scene between Arylie that really makes my heart go all mush is not even remotely romantic. It's the episode after Imlie gets the divorce papers from Aditya on her wedding anniversary. She climbs on the wall of a deserted bridge and Aryan comes there after worrying about her. He drags her from the edge and berates her for trying to end her life. Imlie replies she would never be such a coward. She further goes on and says she cannot cry in front of her enemies or her family. They cannot see her getting weak, but for this one night she wants to give herself permission to be weak in peace. She wants to cry, therefore, she wants to be alone.
Aryan wordlessly, helps her sit in a bench. Walks away to another bench with his back to her. Silently keeps watch on her, all the while giving her the privacy to break down. Not a muscle moving. It must be hard to not react to seeing a woman break down like that. Not react for a man like Aryan. But he held back his impulses because she needed to break herself in pieces to rebuild herself tomorrow. It was so powerful to watch. Also, Imlie mentioned her enemies and family but never a friend. People can break down in front of friends but she never had just a friend, did she? Every other relationship is a double relationship for her husband/mentor, MIl/Maa, Sauten/sister..no one is just a friend or an equal. Aryan was that to her that night. Just a friend. Now only half the actors on ITv could emote so much while being stone faced or wooden faced.
Unfortunately, this scene was aired when ASR was new and Adilie ship was strong. I went through some episode update threads and read the comments. This powerful scene was buried under the histrionics that was unfolding in the T house..because GASP precious Adi was so hurt and GM was so "cute while crying". Argh!!!!
The divorce night scene and the one where she breaks down in the rain and he takes her to task are BY FAR the best scenes in this entire drama and I will die on that hill.
There was ZERO romance at that point. It was simply about a man who had been through loss recognizing a woman going through something similar and trying to help her in a way that he wished he could have been helped. His trauma was from the loss of a mentor (his BIL). He tried to step into that role for her to genuinely do something for another human- no expectations of recognition or reward.
It was a connection on a very basic level for them - humanity- which is why Imlie begrudgingly accepted his advice later, or kept trying to establish a friendship as well.
That divorce night, even though he detested AKT at that time, he advised Imlie to approach Aditya with a calm and cool head to help her fix her marriage. And this single scene speaks volumes of the person that Aryan Singh Rathore is.
Its like you said- there were so many little things that were impactful but got drowned out in the din about GM/Adilie.
AAAH talking about this makes me want to go rewatch those scenes.

As I always say... Let's do a rewatch and react accordingly.
But yeah, those were the days that actually showed me that there is absolutely no need for romance or physical intimacy to create chemistry.
The emotional connect between them that occured during those episodes was a thing of beauty. ASR just looked at Imlie's situation and proceeded to stand by her, and there was absolutely no gain for him.
He had a plan going on already, he didn't need Imlie's baggage to add in his already taxing revenge plan. The sole reason, knowing what we know now, was to support Imlie through it.
And that, that makes me cry.

the first time he gave her hand to stand was in his office actually, when a peon opening the door makes her fall. Right after ASr promoted Imlie and demoted AKT. He takes the new id from peon and gives it to imlie.

He has kept his hatred for AKT very objective in many instances. When he was giving tasks that were out of his comfort zone, he gave very valid reasons for them as a businessman. Adi's reasons for not doing the job was very flimsy. Even Imlie could see it. That night he told her to sort out thinks with Adi. He deleted the message from Adi but he also rescued Imlie let her go to Adi to stop the wedding. that she was late by few seconds cannot be on him. Afterall, Adi claimed her to be love of his life and couldn't wait a few minutes to get married to the sister because she was late to show up. What if she had left for home and her cellphone was turned off?
Even with all this during that chula charai rasam after Adi said "kuch nahi" and Imlie was pissed at him. ASR told her to go and talk it out with Adi. How much more just n reasonable could a guy be?
I am at the beginning of Pagdandiya track. Imlie gets arrested.

Thats the thing. How quickly he took up arms for Imlie against everyone! He defended her in office, to Aditya and everyone who questioned her. When Imlie said that Adi didn't want to print that obituary but was forced to do so because he saw them in room together, his response was so good. Her husband should have talked to her and sorted it out. not drag her through mud by printing that filth. that was action of a coward. It boggles my mind how Imlie still kept defending that guy for another 50 episodes. I feel she finally got done and over Adi only after PD track.
