What you are saying is very true! TV only depicts both extremes.

One reason I like age-gap stories is that I myself would prefer a man who is more mature than me, I find boys of my own age quite immature. I connect better to people older than me in general (IF seems to be the only exception😆).

I am weird mix of childishness & maturity, myself. So to handle me you need a healthy reservoir of patience, which generally would come with age😳

Of course - finally it all depends on the people, not their ages!

Also - some of my fav stories have been age gap ones - Dhoop Kinare, Cheeni Kum & KZK! I dunno what came first - did I like them bcoz I had a preference? Or my inclination got coloured by the stories😆

I like the age gap romance so much because of three reasons.

Firstly toh i think as a population we all have daddy issues. The Desi family is mainly patriarchal and you tend to grow up idolizing as well as fearing your father. Coupled with the tendency of our parents to withhold approval from us, we grow up seeking validation from any adult. So it's kinda given that you also want validation from your spouse or partner as well.

Secondly, the maturity level comes into play. Girls are emotionally more mature than boys. We also tend to be more empathetic. You will tend to see that men your age do not act with much emotional maturity. But an older man is expected to be more mature.

Finally, it's got to do with intelligence. The more intelligent you are the more likely it is that you will find people more intelligent than you attractive. And older men appear intelligent and accomplished.

Maybe that is why the age gap relationship works.

Reg age gap in couples, noticed that most of you mentioned maturity level. I gather, women feel that older men are more mature than the ones who are of same age or have less age diff. This might be true from a girl/woman’s perspective. However, if you look at it from the other side, older men will expect their wife to be more mature to match theirs. It is highly likely that in cases of huge age gap, the girl is somewhat forced(for the lack of a better word) to grow up quickly.

Irrespective of the age difference- maturity levels, intelligence, compatibility all of these can be cultivated by one or both partners to make a marriage work. But there are somethings we cannot control – longevity and health.

Death or bad health can leave the surviving younger one to deal with hardships sooner than later.

All the above can happen to couples who have less age gap too. But the chances of misfortune (what you can’t control) is high in couples with large age gap, in my humble opinion. Hence my curiosity to learn what others think, plus this was something mentioned quiet often on this forum.

mera real life mai jyada age gap to hai nahi. matalab normal wala hai jo almost sare indian couple mai hota hai utna hi hai..
