Just went thru his new insta pics, I feel like he’s tries way too hard to be something he’s not. Kind of like a mix of a Ranbir-Ranveer wannabe

Wasn’t he always like this? I don’t know if he necessarily wants to be like anyone else. But he does appear to want the focus and attention on himself a lot.
he is actually one of the few likable nepos imo although not one of the most talented ones
He is likeable and seems to be one of the few genuine star kids but agree that he’s always been trying to build a certain persona that isn’t really him. Unlike Ranveer I don’t think he actually is as extroverted and love the attention/be a star (otherwise he would have dated a celebrity), which often comes across as try hard. And he is not as mellow and opportunistic as Ranbir. Probably too honest for his own good.

From what Arjun Kapoor said on Koffee with Karan, Varun has always wanted to be the centre of the attention. They were in acting classes together. He's one of the rare star kids who is not jaded even after growing up around films and stars. He's in love with films and wants to be a star. He's willing to work hard for it. Yes can get a little OTT but nowhere near Ranveer level. He needs a grounded director like Sriram Raghavan and not someone like Rohit Shetty or his own father who encourages his OTTness.

Didn’t Arjun also mention that among their circle of friends everyone calls Varun a snake? Which whether true or false it’s a very odd thing to say about your friend on national television.
I dont think Arjun likes very many people except for his family and the Malaika-Bebo gang. Despite his friendship with Ranveer, quite obvious it was just for show on both sides.
Maybe competition does make it harder for the next-gen actors to be friends.

I must have snoozed during the snake part. That's definitely strange. Arjun comes across very mature in interviews. Very grounded especially around Varun who's more like a cute lil' puppy who loves to show off and win everyone's love.

Even in real life, friends grow apart as time passes. Especially when one's doing better and the other not so much. King Drupad had it right "Friendship is only between equals". I guess it's even more magnified when applied to actors who have giant egos and vanity and are competing for the same roles and girls.
