I think she's just leaning into the "using me as a pawn" theory and he's letting her go down that road for the greater good.

Her mind basically went like, oh he wants to hurt Aditya, and the trade he's making is that he'll hurt him personally by marrying me rather than professionally by destroying his career and credibility.

Like Aryan's original plan, was hurting Aditya and the family and this would hurt her (because of the unwanted shaadi) and Aditya (because of seeing her married) so she basically went like accha okay, Aditya aur iska toh chalta hi rahega, but aisa karke family ki jagah main ban jaati hoon collateral damage.

yea it's a major trope in romance novels, itv, and general fiction that the "moody guy with a heart of gold" won't reveal his true intentions (even when good) because he's 1) afraid of rejection 2) has past trauma of his own 3) thinks the girl is going to not just reject *him* but not believe in his character at all

for example: Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice (Aryan is basically a Darcy remake except he's more of a d*ck sometimes and less of a d*ck about status) - Darcy had all three of these, which is why Elizabeth misunderstands his intentions in the beginning and why he doesn't reveal his good actions until the very very end when someone else tells Lizzie that Darcy did all this awesome stuff for her family.

Right now Aryan THINKS that Imlie loves the Tripathis and Aditya more than herself and he KNOWS that Imlie is deserving of much much more than the Tripathis but he also THINKS (but he will turn out wrong eventually) that Imlie will never trust him again anyway and she won't love anyone ever again so he doesn't see the point in trying to tell her the truth right now. Aryan also has past trauma bc of Arvind dying and leaving his sister alone, so he doesn't really have any faith in the permanence of relationships. so to recap Aryan's not telling the truth because he's afraid of Imlie rejecting his love, has major issues he needs a therapist to deal with, doesn't just think Imlie will reject his love but she will also refuse to believe his "truth."

anyway, Imlie is making the most common mistake a FL makes in ITV and romance novels - jumping to conclusions without all the information, and when she does have all the information not doing even one iota of self-reflection to figure out the truth.
