I think they could not have done that. Gash was leaving. They needed a ML opposite skt and a strong one at that so people could switch ships. A female friend is indeed what she needed but show trps needed explosive couple. Since she was obvio married at that time, they chose to start with hate, tolerance and then arylie progressing into that friend zone. But we always knew where it woukd be headed eventually. While the whole fandom hoped for it to happen naturally with love, it obviously was not possible as the character of inlie has already been carved in a way that she would have never given another relationship a chance because of this trauma. I am still honestly not sure how I feel about this whole thing. From writers' POV, this is the best they could have done with Aru in this situation. The way they have shaped imlie over the episodes was the major problem. They could in no way show a complete 180 with her being able to realise she cant save the Ts all the time and that it is not her responsibility. We are going round and round but the crux remains the same. They need therapy. All of them.

You know I would have even taken it if aditya had been wrong and he had seen how imlie wouldn’t even care about that when it comes to saving her parivaar, how the lines between right and wrong are being blurred by her something she used to be proud of and she needs immediately to be cut off from them. Keeping her away through this (I have no idea how he is thinking he can, maybe because he’ll have a right?? kinda uncomfortable ngl) saying this marriage is a contract for this many months and it’d get over after that. Later after imlie has had time to herself she’ll choose herself... idk this is the best possible version for me of this path they’ve chosen 😭 but I hate how they made him frame aditya because of his own insecurities and thirst for revenge push imlie off the edge to right a wrong and then force into a corner to protect her (also I don’t have a problem with destroying aditya however in itself, it’s just the imlie part of it that is uncomfortable)

Really, the thing that would have made it a bit better in different ways is if aditya was actually at fault and imlie still wanted to help Ts for some residual dependency’s sake. But her being someone who has never let the wrong thing go having aparna cry at her feet and knowing it was wrong makes a twisted sort of sense why’d she fight. And aru knowing that and using that knowledge to ‘protect her’ lol kuch bhi.. main thing is aryan was never that bajaj esque character, he has been developed opposite of that so suddenly becoming that doesn’t sit well. If he was always that morally ambiguous guy maybe I would have taken it better. But this seems ooc.. I think I’ll continue after the marriage to see how they’d take it. Post marriage imlie better have some brains back. I mean since that is the only way women get to have brains in this show. At least stick to that 😩
