This is not an intelligent girl, this is a STUPID girl who does not know boundaries or her own limitations. People like this burn out fast and explode. If anything i hope Aryan can either mellow her down or he will get engulfed in her flames and burn.

Aryan is of course much more in control of his emotions than Imlie and hopefully marriage in whatever form it is will ensure Imlie adjusts to the Rathore traditions and legacy and not make a mockery of him and his family.

I feel like Aru will be in for a cold shoulder treatment and humiliation. Learning curve for both of them.

As to the question of personality changes with head trauma they are a possibility, especially if the frontal and prefrontal cortex are involved (so the foremost part of your brain) but I think the change has come over him two fold,

1. the complete and utter PTSD moment complete with flashbacks from the thought of having lost his sister, not getting to her on time either and

2. the dream as he is getting close to end of life, in which his lifeline, Imlie is dragged away by his nemesis.

For a while there, he had basked in Imlie's Imliepanti and the bullshit that was her life, with the divorce and Adini remarriage, he had veered off course. Now he is back, the man he was right after Arvind's death.

I was reflecting on that scene. The young man who was being held back from saving his brother in law, in a plaid shirt and jeans, boyish, young and carefree. And then contrast him with the man they showed right after Arvind's funeral. He was already a changed man, not just his clothes, the dark vest and shirt.

That is the dark Aryan. Imlie is the force that has compelled the soft hearted Aryan out of hiding and FK portrays the war between the two beautifully.

So now, his agenda is two pronged. The revenge against AKT and ensuring that Imlie does not throw away her life slaving for the Ts and burning out for them.

There were many ways this contractual marriage could have happened without arm twisting her and ways it could have been an idea of both of them.. it’s like taking away her consent and choice, making her relive her worst trauma to.. save her? I hate it so much how they’ve put all the responsibilities of progression, conflict etc on aryan’s shoulders thus his character gets tweaked to move the plot forward but imlie is stuck exactly where she was months ago as an individual character which makes this whole thing seem so suffocating.. she’s just a reactionary character she has no control over her own story except for suffocating for the tripathis willingly herself else is beneath them to her.. a pathetic position she is in. To take away the one thing she is sure about, that she hates the idea of marriage but will have to, makes it even more suffocating.

At the end, it all comes down to how badly they have dealt with imlie’s character. They somehow hate the idea of giving women agency over their lives and keep making them suffer for others no other brains of her own, will of her own. So, the responsibility of carrying the show forward is on aryan. Thus, he acts in ways that is ooc or nonsensical.. I am sorry but I do find it ridiculous how this whole weather and revenge this was dealt with.

I guess the reason mujhe yeh khatak raha hai is how they have taken imlie’s agency away, refuse to show her move on from her abusive ex and his fam so she would have no choice here.. then show it how she’s such a fool it’s all for her betterment, it’s a noble decision.. It’s really not 😭

I would rather see it as a twisted action, of a flawed character. But it would eventually lead to imlie more in control of herself and asr having growth with regards to revenge too. Later imlie staying or not would be her choice.. A story where all are flawed characters. That would make me feel better about this somewhat.. but I just cannot see it as some noble action.

I just.. am missing all the dreams I had of a girl whose choice was ripped away getting to choose her life now.. a second chance trope done right. Both choosing this 😭 seriously.. a much better situation could have been created if they had seen imlie as a character worth their time, a titular character instead of tripathis’ ex bahu and a little time as asr’s intended.. even a better scenario involving both for a contractual marriage could have happened.. man even a force marriage could have been done a better way 😭 i don’t know why show him mad at the villagers taking her agency away again and then have him do it to ‘protect her’ when the situation that led her back into the tripathis’ arms was created by him khud hi.

A million times this! Yes, he has good intentions, but so what?? She's still being coerced into something against her will. Yes, in the long run, this will work out well, but it's a shitty thing to do to her. And it is force, because he's leveraging the freedom of an innocent man and the happiness of her family, so if that's not blackmail...ugh.

Good intentions make it a smidge more palatable than like a revenge marriage but it's still like...even if she wants to destroy her life, it's her prerogative. It just makes me uncomfortable.

i wouldn't say twisted his arm! the full scene will be in tomorrow's ep but it happened during the convo we get a flash back to. you'll have to watch it's kinda confusing.

Storywise, the whole forced marriage track is unpalatable. Aryan is wrong. Period. He could have gone about this in so many ways.

BUT. Imlie is not a person to whom choices mean the same thing as it would to someone else. Aryan has given her a BALTI load of chances to change, to grow, to be someone her Amma envisioned. But her heropanti or stockholm syndrome (however you want to spin it) is so darn strong, that giving her a choice now is equivalent to pushing her to destroy herself for a namesake family.

Aryan is wrong. But anything else wouldn't be right. He's already assumed that he will be her villian, a black knight. There to help her, protect her, hold her when she falls yet expecting none of the rewards that should come with it.

He is expecting that she will be looking forward towards the sun, while he holds her up in the shadows.

Aryan is giving up so much to keep her safe from herself- knowing well that she will hate him, that she will hurt him. He may not admit to loving her, but the man is full on toot-ke-pyaar-dil-pe-sawaar-tumhi-mera-dildaar on her.

FK absolutely nailed every nuance of this character and brought him to life. STK was stunning, especially in the diya scene where she is walking against the light.

My heart still hurts thinking about the angst but these two characters- so much potential, so much love.

I need therapy after this show is over. I swear.

That’s the whole thing. The whole problem, they hate giving women any agency over themselves in this show unless they are crying over, fighting over men and their families or going insane because of them. Imlie has been kept a very regressive character for god knows what purpose, because I don’t think any audience enjoys the suffocating cycle her character is in. But because imlie can have no agency of her own. The only character who remained unscathed is now being played with because only he can carry the story forward. Imlie just.. reacts. In a show that is named after her.. she can’t even think of her own self, others have to baby her to make her realise what is right and wrong for her and that’s what’s very frustrating😭

Honestly just give me the romance and some entertaining tracks bas, forced bhi jhel leti shaadi but I don’t need the reason some false sense of progressiveness where the female character is so suffocating. I like seeing my female characters self aware and self reliant too. She has to be held by the hand to be shown what’s right and wrong for her because she has no brains, and I find that insulting rather than progressive. Like imlie’s stupidity is such an insult 😭 women have zero brains in this show and it sucks so bad

Dee, I so agree with @bold. That more than anything exhausts me. The sheer stupidity. Why?? When the show started, I thought of her as an old soul. Focused on her dreams and aspirations. So, why after being separated from patrakaar for what is it now 2-3-4months, who's counting, why is she not able to just hit a pause button, think before she speaks and acts. That is progressive. Not this I haath jodoes, hate me if you want but spare my family bull shit. Completely skews the power dyanamic. Though I do think she will have the upper hand in other ways, once they are married. Like I said, I cannot reconcile the writer's vision of a progressive Imlie with what we know and believe to be true progressive traits.

While I agree that it seems like this now. I don't think even at her worst imlu could do as much damage to Aru as Ts have done to her.

Similarly - ASR -- drops things to be with Imlie in time of need. His world is stratintg to rotate around her and her Tears.
