Abhimanyu stood there shocked. His mother refused to come to his tilak. The one day he was waiting for so long. The one he earned after so many fights, belittling, problems and roadblocks. Just because her husband, who does not even respect her, refused to put aside his ego? Even after him saying 'please'. He does not want to do that. No pleading this man? But he did. After everything the man had put him and his mother through out his child and still do, he did. Because she and Akshara has asked him too. Still she refused.
The shock which was shimmering in his eyes bright turned to hurt and he shook his head in disappointment.
What was he even expecting? To stop feeding his ego?
He knew the trauma she has been through, what his sir has put her through and what all damage he had done. But he could not help but recall how everytime she refused to leave him, defended his behaviour, gave justification for his years of abuse and behaviour. How everytime it was his word against him! The irony.
He was ready to leave everything for her. His first love, his first heartbreak, every crumbled pieces of his broken heart and was ready to marry Aarohi Goenka. So that her health gets on line.
Why was a part of him blaming her and the other part understanding her trauma and situation? Have I gone crazy? The thought ran wild in his mind.
"Your father should be there, with every ounce of respect, he deserved," And his eyes snapped to her, Mrs Manjari Birla. The day on which he should be blushing, having butterflies in his stomach and laughing till his stomach hurts, he stood in the centre of Birla House Hall with bloodshot eyes, clenched fist, nails digging deeper in his palms, letting the blood to ooze out and a heavy chest as it carried the burden of a broken heart.
Dr Abhiamanyu MANJARI Birla, as he so proudly used to flaunt has been reduced to ashes by Mrs Manjari HARSH Birla.
He chuckles, the hoarse voice resounding, "Okay." He smiled at her. "The choice is yours ma'am." And just in a second and by uttering a word, he has taken the world of Birla House by storm.
Manjari staggered back, almost slipping if it's not Neil catching her. "Bhai ye aap kya keh rahe ho?" He knew his brother. He would never leave their mother. Will not go against her. No one from the Birla kids will because she has raised them up. Have given them love that their parents refused to provide.
"I said the choice is of Ma'am, Neil. I am just giving her a choice," He shrugged. His dark eyes dilated but too guarded up to read.
Manjari sobbed in Neil's arm. Abhimanyu body twitched to go and comfort her. But he knew better than to do that.
"I have earned my happiness today and I am not going to tamper it. Tamper it over anything. And I am not letting Akshu wait anymore," he let out a deep breath.
"Ab wo Akshu tumhare Maa, Baap, gharwale sab se upar ho gayi? Kya jaadu tona kiya hai uss ladki ne," Harshvardhan Birla stepped up. His words burning the already ignited fire in Abhimanyu heart.
He laughed, his breath resounding, "Meri duniya meri Maa se shuru hoti hai aur Akshu par khatam hoti hai. Aur mujhe ye baat kisi ko bhi prove karne ki zarurat nahi hai,"
"Haan tabhi toh Akshu ke liye pehle apne baap," Harsh waved his hand as his forehead creased with hatred for the girl his son was going to marry, ticking Abhi anger.
"Baap nahi hai aap mere," And Abhimanyu Birla roared. "Baap nahi hai aap mere," he growled as his breathed, his eyes throwing daggers, burning from the hard stare and his want to punch the man in front of him grew.
"Baap chodiye aap ek ache pati aur ek ache insaan bhi nahi hai," his voice wavered, "Aapne kabhi unki izzat hi nahi ki jo aapke hisaab se aapke aaude ke na ho, doctor na ho, zyada paise na ho aur na hi aap ek ache pati hai kyunki aaj Tak apne meri maa ko sirf anxiety attack, low confidence, panic attacks aur beizzati hi di hai,"
"Wo gaana chahti thi aur aapne kabhi unko pankh diye hi nahi. Aapko padhi likhi patni chahiye thi lekin maa ke certificates par kabhi Nazar fer kar nahi dekha aapne. Bachpan se dekhta aaye hu, aaj tak sirf unhe neecha dikhate hai aaye hai aap. Ye sahi nahi kiya, wo nahi kiya, ye galti hai, wo galti hai... Aree aapne kaunse jhande gaar liye hai Sir," He looked up. Letting them see the broken pieces of his heart.
" Aapko andaaza bhi hai ki aapke har word se maa kitni pareshan Hui hai? Roti thi wo raat raat bhar aur jab dekho tab aapko defend karti rehti thi. Ki agar chaata maara kyunki gusse mein they. Aawaz utahyi toh thak gaye they isiliye uthayi. Khud bhuke reh le lekin aapka pait Khali nahi rehna chahiye. Sir, aapne izzat karna jaana bhi hai?" And here he was, once again, fighting for his mother rights while the woman was ready to leave him.
"Aur aap kehte hai aap mujhse pyaar karte hai? Do you even know I have anxiety issues?" Harshvardhan eyes widened in shock. "Haan mere pair hilane ki aadat udhar se hi lagi aur aapko pata hai ye aadat kab lagi?" He took one step closer to him. "Jab aapne pehli baar maa par haath uthaya mere saamne. 8 saal ka baccha tha main, sir." He smiles. His eyes telling the tales of his broken heart.
"Aap par karza chadhana hota na sir toh baaki baccho ki tarah aawaragardi karta par mujhe padh likh kar doctor ban na tha taaki main apni maa ko idhar se bahar nikal sakun. Main Neil, Parth, Anisha, Nistha aur Maa ko kahin dur leke chale jaaun jahan unhe apne sapno par, apne lafzo par, apni zindagi par bandish na lagana pade. Par phir meri mulaqaat aapki biwi se hui," he turned towards Manjari, a sarcastic smile playing on his lips.
" Aapne kaise inn se itne saal pyaar kar liya? Itne saal reh liya? Kaise?" He asked, tears spilling from his eyes as Manjari sobbed.
Neil, Parth, Anisha, Nishtha and Shefali eyes were damped while Anand and Mahima bowed down there head in shame.
"Har baar ek abuse ko kaise justify kar diya? Every freaking time? Kaise?!!!!" He wanted to scream but his voice came out as plea. Plea to answer him and free him from the thoughts that chains him.
"Har baar aapse kaha ki hum bahar chalte hai, give him divorce par arri rahi aap apne decision par.... Yahi zidd, yahi gussa, yahi aawaz aapne tab kyu nhi uthayi jab unhone haath uthaya?" He asked. His questions jolting her out of her reverie, making her look up.
"Aap ko pata hai na ki aapki sisak sun kar bada hua hun aur aaj wahi sisak mujhe raaton ko jaga kar rakhti hain. Sone nahi deti hai. Har baar yaad dilane aa jati ki hai kaise main ek acha beta nahi ban paaya. That how I failed to protect you," he cried, his voice trembled and body shook.
"Bhai," Anisha took a step towards him but he held up a finger. He needed to let it all out.
"Aapko pata hai mujhe shaadiyon se darr lagta hai. Inn relationships se darr lagta hai. That I fear that I will turn out like sir. That my relationship will not last. You know it aur aapko ye bhi pata hai ki kaise Akshu, hawa ki wo marham ban kar aayi jisne anjaane mein kayi ghaav bhare par ghaav abhi bhi zinda hai Maa. Bachpan ke hai. Pyaar mein par jaane se thik nahi ho jayenge."
"Par idhar dekhiye, main shaadi karne liye taiyaar hun. Apne harr darr se aage badhne ko taiyar hun. Aur mujhe sirf aapka saath chahiye tha... " He sighs. Wiping his tears, he unclenched his fist.
" Aaj toh meri khushi ka din tha na Maa. Naachne gaane ka tha. Muskurane ka tha. Sharmane ke tha phir main idhar kathgere mein kyu khada hun? Main ek baar phir toote huye tukdon ke saath kyu khada hun? Kyu" she looked on helplessly as her son looked for answers from her.
He shook his head when she just cried. " Main aapko blame nahi kar raha hun par aapko apni aawaz bohot pehle uthane chahiye thi. Koi insaan ek waqt tak hi bechara hota hai... Baad mein bas becharepan ki aadat ho jati hai." He smiled.
Nodding at everyone, he started walking away. Stopping by the threshold, he said, "I will come back to pack my bags and leave. Also, main apne tilak mein jaa raha hun. Jo Khushi mein khushiyan gholne ke mann se aana chahta hai wo log hamesha mujhse milne aa sakte hai." And walked away. To fulfil the dreams and happiness he envisioned.
