Imagine you and your friend are members of a criminal organization who have been arrested. Each of you is in solitary confinement with no means of communicating with the other. The prosecutors lack sufficient evidence to convict you both on the major crime charge, but they have enough to convict you both on a lesser charge. Simultaneously, the prosecutors offer each of you a bargain. Each of you is given the opportunity either to betray the other by testifying that the other committed the crime, or to cooperate with the other by remaining silent. The possible outcomes are:

• If you and your buddy each betray the other, each of you serves two years in prison
• If you betrays your buddy but your buddy remains silent, you will be set free and your buddy will serve three years in prison
• If you remains silent but your buddy betrays you, you will serve three years in prison and your buddy will be set free
• If you both remain silent, both of you will serve only one year in prison (on the lesser charge)

I will stay silent and hope that my buddy stays silent too. If we both stay silent then we can be out in an year. If my buddy betrays me then that would suck and I would end up in prison for 3 years but at least it would be better than the guilt I would have for betraying my buddy and sending him/her to prison.

Also, these criminal organizations take these kind of betrayals seriously. If my buddy betrays me or I betray my buddy we could be killed once we're out so there's really no choice there.

You know, every single divorced person I know had a love marriage. So what does that say about love marriages? One of my cousins in India had an arranged marriage and is divorced, another 5 are perfectly content in arranged marriages.

Averages are in their favor. They are basically guaranteed to grow old with someone by their side, raise their kids together, get on with life. I wish it were that easy for me😒

Mere Liye, the past isn't worth remembering, and I don't have too many fond memories either. Due to my social anxiety, school and college were hard for me. Traveling for pleasure or memories is not my style; I prefer staying at home unless necessary for my work. I have a hard time making friends as well. They became my friends because they wanted to.

After college, they attempted to keep in touch with me, but I did not respond. Why is it so difficult for me to stay in touch?

Visions, I am a lot like you.

I don't like majority of my school life and college life memories.

But I have very few (countable in one hand) but extremely loyal friends I have collected from these places. But i have made peace with those times and have salvaged a few good memories that I reminisce without being shadowed by bad memories.
