India doesn't have to send its soldiers for war. But that does not mean neutrality. Because it would be mega shortsighted on India's part if it thinks it will remain unaffected.

Do y'all not see that gasoline prices will shoot up? Everything in India will cost double, triple, quadruple of what it does now. Shortages, job loss... that is if the silence merely remains ignored by the eventual winners.

Not to mention the spillover violence. Every terrorist worth his title will be trying take advantage of the situation. India WILL be dragged in no matter what.

Those who gloat should understand this.

But yeah India not taking a stand here means it's supporting Russia. USA and its European allies won't be pleased with India at all right now.

Of course. That's the nature of sane nations.

I was responding to nonpareil's idea that China is begging India for something. Trust me... the Chinese are doing this to cover their backsides with the West. And also because they recognize a war in the region would affect t them more than it affects Europe or the U.S.

Toh kya kare? Aage jaake khade hojaye? 😆India is not that powerful bhai! Forget India, even Amreeka is busy eating the humble pie as we speak!

EDIT: India and the whole world may get dragged into this inadvertently but that doesn’t mean we make any official statements or commit to any side. India has always had a neutral stance and shall continue to remain so (hopefully).

India is not being neutral or anything here. Being silent and not condemning Russia right now means supporting Russia. Atleast US and Europe are condemning Putin right now.

America, my friend, is on the other side of the world. America actually has oil reserves it can release. America can also unfreeze drilling in a matter of minutes and supply itself with oil. Not to mention the largest natural gas reserves in the world. America also has the only army in the world which can defeat Russia (though I sincerely hope we don't go there).

I am just amazed at the short-sightedness of these posts crowing about Indian power and how India should maintain neutrality as though it can afford to. Bottomline is it can't. Because places like India will be the most at risk. Hope to God the people in charge have more understanding of global markets than the peeps on this thread.

But some of y'all seem to understand it and STILL be ready for India to take hits from this war only to see the West suffer a fraction of what India would suffer. I can only imagine you don't believe you personally will lose your job or lack for food and medicine and electricity. That's where this war is taking us. And the 80% of India that still lives in poverty will be the ones to suffer. Not the keyboard experts.

ETA: not being neutral doesn't mean sending troops. It means speaking out forcefully against this war. It means actually trying to stop this madness. Russia should see it's friendless. They should have no market to sell their oil.

I am more worried about a Chinese and Russian alliance soon. That would be a catastrophe for US, Europe and the whole world. I don't know if India could still maintain this "neutral forever" stance then or it will choose a side then.

Catastrophe only in inevitable war sense. America still has enough military power to destroy the world 4 times over.

But it's not going to happen because Chinese economy depends on the West. If such an alliance happens, and the West cuts China off, their economy will crash. They won't do it.

India sometimes remains silent publicly but supports behind the scenes. In Gulf War, the U.S. used some of India's bases.

@Red: That’s exactly what I asked but you quoted me and repeated the same thing. If you are done complaining about the other people’s short-sightedness, can you please state your opinion on the topic of this thread? What should India do?

@Bold: what exactly does that mean? When did I ever say that?
