So, this happens when you put up an Aryan with his eyes wet, walking away from Imlie, while Imlie looked on from behind him, and one of my favourite song plays in the background, in front of me.
i.e. I write something about it.
Yeh dooriyan
These distances
He wanted to take her away from here. Away from this place that continued to hurt her even when she gave everything to it. Away from this hellhole that sucked all her happiness, and turned her into a shell of a person. That sucked her soul out of her body.
In Raahon Ki Dooriyan
The distance of paths
He gathered courage. He didn’t know what place he held in her life. He didn’t know if she would come with him. He didn’t even know if she wanted to come with him.
Would she? Did she want to?
Was his home hers too?
Nigahon Ki Dooriyan
Distance between our eyes
“Imlie.”, he called out to her, not knowing how to ask her to come home. Unsure of everything that was happening here. Because that’s what she made him. Unaware. Unsure. Unknowing.
He looked away to find Aditya standing there, and the courage he had gathered, the little surety he felt of her wanting to come home with him disappeared.
This was the guy Imlie loved, regardless of whether he loved her or not. This was the guy that Imlie dedicated a whole year to, regardless of whether he dedicated it to her or not. This was the guy that Imlie worshipped, regardless of whether the guy treated her like the goddess she was or not.
Humrahon Ki Dooriyan
Distance between companions
“I… uh…”, he stopped, unsure whether he could compete for this guy’s place in Imlie’s life or not.
He knew he was good. He knew he treated Imlie right. He knew that he supported Imlie. He knew he helped Imlie in achieving her dreams. He knew he stood by Imlie.
But would she ever see him?
Would he ever have his place in Imlie’s life?
Was he always going to be her friend? Her confidante?
Would he ever be her love?

“Tumhein kaafi baatein karni hogi. Take your time. Mein Maa aur Didi ko ghar lekar jaa raha hun.”, he told her.
It was upon her now, it was her time now, it should be her decision now.
She already had one controlling man in her life, one person who influenced her decisions, one who took away her time. She didn’t need another.
He trusted her to make a decision herself.
Right or wrong, time would tell, but it has to be her decision.
Kyun Koi Paas Hai
Why somebody’s close
He walked away.
He didn’t know when she had come to mean so much to him. He didn’t know when he began caring for her so much. He didn’t want to know what it was about her that made him like this.
But he knew that she deserved to have her own will while making the decision for what she had to face today. She was the one who had to decide if she wanted to go back or if she wanted to close this chapter in her life.
Door Hai Kyun Koi
Why somebody’s far
A tear escaped his eye. He covered his eyes with his glasses, not wanting anyone to see him weak.
He had never been good at walking away from what he wanted, but what he wanted today was for her to make a decision, and she wouldn’t be able to if he was hovering around her.
Jaane Na Koi Yahan Pe
Nobody knows
Imlie watched as he went away, as he left her with Aditya.
She wanted to stop him.
She didn’t understand why he was leaving. She didn’t know what to make of her heart crying for him to stop. He couldn’t leave her here. He was her partner. He helped her. He stood by her. He didn’t let her fall.
He had become much more than a boss, more than a mentor.
He had become a friend.
Aa Raha Paas Ya Door Mein Jaa Raha
Am I moving closer or apart
But did her heart cry for her friends to stop?
Did her heart cry for her friends to take her with them?
Did her heart cry for her friends for leaving them behind?
Why didn’t he understand she needed him, now more than ever. She wanted him to make the decision for her. She wanted him to stop, she wanted him to turn around, she wanted him to walk back to her, she wanted him to take her hand, and she wanted him to take her back with him.
Janun Na Mein Hoon Kahan Pe
Don’t know where I am
She wanted him to take her home.
But, more than anything, she wanted to go with him.
She wanted to leave this place and go with him.
She wanted to be with him.
As more than friends.
But was she ready?
Was she ready to open her heart again? For Aryan?
Yeh dooriyan
These distances
No she wasn’t.
Aryan Singh Rathore didn’t deserve a broken heart. Aryan Singh Rathore didn’t deserve a heart split in two. Aryan Singh Rathore didn’t deserve any heart break.
Aryan Singh Rathore deserved the world, and she was just but a broken shell.
She let him go. She wasn’t ready to open her heart to anyone.
And Aryan Singh Rathore, deserved people who would love him with their whole heart.
In Raahon Ki Dooriyan
The distance of paths
She looked down, not able to watch him walk away any more.
She understood his reasons to walk away. She herself never understood why he did what he did. There were times that she was baffled by the things he did. But today, today she understood his reason for walking away.
This was her moment.
This was her decision to make.
But was she being selfish in wanting him to be by her side when she made it?
Was she being selfish in wanting him to stand by her, even when she didn’t really need his help here?
Was it bad, being selfish for him?
Imlie had never been selfish in her life. She gave and gave angave, until she couldn’t give anymore.
Nigahon Ki Dooriyan
Distance between our eyes
And that was that wasn’t it.
She had nothing left to give to him.
So she watched as he left.
She wasn’t going to start being selfish now, not with him especially.
She recognised that she had taken much from him, that he had given her more than her supposed love of her life ever gave her, so much that she didn’t know if she could take anymore.
She let him go because she couldn’t offer him anything for everything he had done for her.
She let him go because she didn’t want to fall into another relationship like hers, where only one side gave and one side took.
Humrahon Ki Dooriyan
Distance between companions
It broke her already broken heart to see him walk away, but she realised this was necessary for him too.
Aryan Singh Rathore knew when to push and when to pull.
And if he thought this was what was best for them, then he was absolutely right.
After all, there has been yet a decision Aryan made that she could really object to, with reason at least.
Every decision he made ended up being best for her only. It led to various different realisations for her. It opened up a million paths for her.
It saved her.
Fanah Ho Sabhi Dooriyan
May all the distances be vanished
Yes, Aryan Singh Rathore saved her.
It was high time she did something for him too.
She knew what the right decision to make was now. For her. For him.
She braced herself, for it was going to be difficult. Aditya had controlled her will long enough, and she was so used to succumbing to him, she had to brace herself for not falling for it this time.
She had to move on.
The first step was to leave.
Her destination had already left her.
