so, I have a friend from law school- Smriti. No one really likes her because she talks a lot of crap. But she is one of my dearest friends because with me she cannot speak non-sense and she appreciates that I scold her and make her see her place in the world, if she ever tries to.

My first interaction with her was something like-

She was all talks about how her family is so well educated and from the premier universities of India and I told her that the fact is that I do not care what her family's achievements are, and its also a fact that she is sitting in one of the premier colleges of the city and we both here at the same pedestal. So kindly shut up.

Since then we are really close friends.

But I'm glad she doesn't look at you correcting her as a wrong thing.

sometimes to shut her up, I just tell her that if she begins with her family jaap, I will start with mine, and then I will begin from my mother's maternal grand-father, her whole maternal family, then her paternal family and then I will come to my family. I clearly have more stories to tell.

I have maintained this with all of my friends that when we talk and when we meet I dont want to know any xyz person's story. You are my friend tell me about yourself, your dreams, your aspirations, things you did and what you are doing and what you plan to do. That xyz person is not my friend, he/ she is of no significance to me.
