But I haven't read for pleasure since Thanksgiving break. I'd like to crack open a book but it can't be too hefty - I don't think I can handle political commentary or anything sociological or economics-related right now😆

I feel my head will literally 🤯 I read Mohsin Hamid's Exit West recently - it's an allegory about immigration and political restrictions on geographic boundaries bound up in a love story. I liked it a lot. And then I read the Percy Jackson books just cos my sister had the full set handy🤣

Nope. I am done. I am not willing to waste time and patience on another ITV show. Jija and friends are enough. My parents watch the Malayalam version of Anupama and it is super duper regressive.

Also, there is another show in Malayalam, where the heroine is a Maths college lecturer/lawyer/writer. She is adopted by a single dad and wants to know about her parents. She finds out that her mother had her out of wedlock and vows revenge only to later figure out her mother was r**ed as a 16 year old and is now busy taking down the three men who is popular and powerful people in the society now. So, it has git regressive elements but overall badassness is there. She also has a love interest but she is not coy or anything. Sassy-ness for an ITV heroine is there.

I had heard there was going to be a movie with Russell Crowe playing the lead but that was a few years back. But maybe that's for the best...

There's a novel called Celebrity which has a similar plot - it's a pretty old novel, written in the 80s or 90s.
