See, this is part of what I find so off-putting about Abhimanyu as a character. You want your lead to be a late 30s surgeon, fine. He's never been in love before, that's fine too (a little implausible but whatever). Here Raanja, Laila Majnu, Sohni Mahiwal are all tragic love stories that I have a feeling Shakespeare got the idea for Romeo-Juliet probably from Indian folk tales. 😆

Very probably!

In high school I did a term paper on Kalidasa and it really ticked me off he was referred to as the Shakespeare of India in all the reference materials. Dude, he predates Shakespeare by 100s of years😆

And WHY are Abhimanyu and Akshara comparing themselves to such tragic lovers anyway?? Are they thinking of a suicide pact... 🤔
