Yes at least it took Kartik a few months of marriage before he started in with the angry "Tumhara bhai" speeches. Abhimanyu is just a simmering cauldron of rage and violence. That's why all the mothership posts on how cute it is that Akshu is being so fierce and he's being so meek struck me as distasteful. All the meekness and disarming behavior towards Akshu is just so much nautanki on Abhimanyu's part - the truth is, the minute she displeases him, that aggression is going to come right to the surface.
