This is a drama based in 1920s or 30s when "love you" only meant romantic love.
Forget the pre-independence era, but can you expect the same level of maturity from our own parents if they see a boy and girl saying "love you" to each other and claim to be "just friends"?
Also, ever since that cringey inkpot scene, I am sure that's what the makers also were trying to portray Anidita in a romantic light or attracted to each other.
I can understand Anirudh having such feelings being an adult already but Bondita was a teenager.
And it looks ironic and contradictory that the very Anirudh who was trying to "bring Bondita on the right path" now himself is indulging such inappropriate thoughts for her age.
