hello guys!

I am back. i know i was suppose to update last week but my laptop was not working and i couldnot update and i am so thankful to all of you for being this patient with me. i am like the worst author for not updating on time and you guys are so good to me. so i have finally updated next chapter. its not much but please keep showering your love and i promise to give you a better chapter next time.

Chapter 5 Oh no Ram!

“Where is maitrey?” asked Priya for the nth time trying to divert the conversation from her. She was fidgeting and irritated at her brain for running out of all the ideas to get away from Neeraj with as much grace as she can muster in her being. All she wanted right now was to tell him to just shut up and leave her alone but with all the guests around her, she couldn't trust Neeraj to not make any scene out of it and there was no way in hell that she will let anyone ruin all her hard work tonight. She passed a tight smile in her right to some of the ram’s business associates looking her way and She told herself to just be patient for few more minutes, once the cake comes out and people start moving towards the dance floor no one will care how she talks to Neeraj then. Just then she felt a hand snaking around her waist and she turned around to give Neeraj a piece of her mind without giving a flying shit how it will look to others but her words got stuck in her throat looking at her blue-eyed man standing beside her and giving a pissed off smile to Neeraj.

“Oh Ram. Happy birthday. Where have you been? It's your party and you left Priya alone to welcome your guests, I was just keeping her company. Someone had to.” said Neeraj smirking and offering Ram his left hand to shake.

“Thank you Neeraj. But you didn’t have to give Priya company, I was on my way.” replied Ram taking his hand.

“Oh, I was enjoying my time, after all its not every day Priya looks this beautiful.” said Neeraj looking in Priya's direction, which got ram’s blood to boil and Priya looking between the two took a deep breath and left a little whimper as ram’s hold on her waist and simultaneously on Neeraj's hand tightened. Ram turned his face to his right to look at the source of the whimper and realizing that he caused it loosened his hold on Priya, but only on Priya. An excruciating pain shot up Neeraj's hand and he tried to jerk ram’s hand but ram only tightened his hold.

“Priya did you meet Meera maa? I think she was looking for you. You should go and check.” ram giving Priya his best smile asked her to go ahead to Meera ma as he will find her in some minutes. Priya nodded and thanked her stars as she again got an excuse to create some distance between herself and these two men for different reasons obvious only to her. Ram followed her movements with his eyes and waited until Priya was out of earshot and by Meera ma’s side before looking at Neeraj and speaking again.

“I think you don’t like living Neeraj.” he said with exasperation and rage reeking out of him. “I told you to stay away from my wife.”

“She is my family! You cannot threaten me.” replied a wide eyed Neeraj with agonizing pain visible on his face.

“I don’t care. This is your second strike and I won't allow a third. If you want maitrey to keep seeing you, don’t be seen around Priya ever again. Am I clear?” he asked with a clear intension of not taking ‘no’ as an answer and so he increased the pressure on Neeraj's hand. When he got a nod from Neeraj in his answer and a definite ‘yes’ only then ram left his hand. Ram smiled in satisfaction and before joining everyone he tapped Neeraj on same hand, said “get yourself some ice” winked and left towards Priya. Brinda looking that the scene from far smiled, shook her head with mirth and said “oh no ram!”

As ram was approaching Meera and Priya he heard the mike screeching and then Akshay and Shivina announcing that a dance will be performed by ram and his beautiful bride before the cake cutting and he looked towards his wife and asked her to dance. Priya knowing that she can't escape this now as every eye was on them both, forward her hand to ram and let him lead herself to the dance floor. As the room got filled by the sweet voice of Christina Perri and “A thousand years” started to play, ram snaked his arms around Priya again, this time delicately and pulled her towards him. He was over the moon as finally he has Priya where he wanted her since he had returned from London. He looked straight in her eyes and decided to enjoy the next five minutes with his wife in his arms to his heart's desire as he knew that later that night a very difficult conversation is waiting for them.

The day we met

All of my doubts suddenly goes away somehow

As the lyrics filled the room Priya started to feel a storm of emotions inside her ready to burst any time. With every word her eyes were getting more traitorous and with ram looking at her like she is his number one it was getting hard for her to even smile. But the next few lines of the song got her tears to the brim of her eyes.

One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you

Darling don’t be afraid I have loved you

For a thousand years

I’ll love you for a thousand more

Ram panicked as Priya started crying in his arms, thinking that he might have again accidently tightened his hold on her waist he said “I'm sorry Priya! I didn’t mean hurt you. Stop crying please. I can't see you crying, it doesn’t feel right.” and these words by ram were her undoing. She hugged him as firmly and securely as possible to her. The intensity of her hug imbalanced ram but he balanced himself instantly and held her to himself with utmost care as she was his most prized possession.

Her dam broke completely and she sobbed so loud that everyone present at the party was shocked to see Priya like this. All the feelings, reactions and emotions she has been repressing throughout the day since she saw ram in their room finally won over her and got out. Ram caressed her hairs gently and tried to get her to look at him. He was feeling so guilty and helpless at that moment that he wasn’t even able to process it. “Priya, I'm sorry, I shouldn’t have hold you this tightly. Please look at me, tell me where it hurts. Everyone is worried. I am worried. please Priya!” at this Priya came back to her senses.

First, she looked up at ram with blood-shot eyes and an almost running nose and then around themselves at everyone. Her gaze landed on her mother for a minute but before she could say or do anything ram held her face and turned it towards him and started to wipe it with a tissue. She wanted to cry more at his gesture but restraint herself from making things worse for ram. He will be so embarrassed she thought. Ram asked again if she is hurt and nodded no.

“If you are not hurt then why are you crying?” When Priya didn’t say anything and kept looking at him, he got more confused at first and then he got angry, really angry, his eyes were burning with rage and fire. “Did Neeraj say something to you earlier?” she shrugged and said “I didn’t pay any attention to what he was saying.” ram nodded, and asked “did he touch you inappropriately?” she nodded no and ram relaxed a little. Everyone was looking at the couple with such intrigued and charmed expressions that they couldn’t take their eyes off of them except a few who were Buring to ashes, looking at the scene unfolding in front of them.

“Then what happened Priya? Just tell me, I will make it right. What’s bothering you?”

“Promise you will do what I will say?”

“Yes! Anything for you.”

“Then don’t ever disappear like last night. I was so scared Raaum..ah... Mr. Kapoor. I thought that you don’t want to come back because of the argument we had. I thought I would never see you again, and my last words to you were some rude taunts. Do you know how agonizingly chilling those hours were, when I thought that I have lost you. When Aditya said you have been in an accident and fighting for your life I...I... I almost died myself.” she whispered the last part. She looked devastatingly ravishing to ram in that instant, rebuking him in her full form as his wife, as Mrs. Priya Ram Kapoor. In that minute he decided to get something out of Priya in exchange for her demand which he would have done anyways. His business brain was delighted at the prospect of being profited by something that was totally unexpectable and seems like a farfetched dream a few hours ago.

“Ok! I understand your position and agree to your preposition if you agree to mine.”

“Huh...?” Priya looked at him with bewilderment.

“I will not go anywhere as long as you will call me ram.” he looked at her in return with the best poker-faced expressions he has ever pulled off. He was not going to let this chance go. He was dying to hear his name in her voice and finally this fantasy seems to have come to a conclusion in his Favour. “So, deal?”

“What kind of condition is it? It's so stupid. How does it matter what I call you? And what has it got anything to do with you being present?” Everyone present chuckled at ram’s antics and Priya being perplexed at his demand. she couldn’t understand what kind of trick he is trying to pull off. And by this time ram had completely forgotten that they were in company of at least hundred people.

“Everything Priya! Do you know how utterly ridiculous it would look you calling me Mr. Kapoor in front of our kids? I'm not going to let that be our future. Nope it's just not acceptable anymore.” he said with determination while Priya looked horrified at him for saying this out loud in front of everyone and a deafening gasp travelled across the room to Priya's embarrassment. She was red from head-to-toe.

Before Priya could utter anything Shivina walked up to them and said “bhai I didn’t know you had started your baby planning, huh! Why didn’t you tell me? Akki and I would have done it too.” and a booming laughter came out of everyone. Ram looking at Priya smirked and said to Nandini, Vedika and Priya's utter shock “you can start now; you won't be that far behind. Right Mrs. Kapoor.” challenging Priya. He was sending a message to Priya that either she starts calling him ram or this might be her entire night with him.

“Well as entertaining as your private life is can, we cut the cake now bhai? Everyone is waiting.” said Shivina looking between the couple.

“Whenever Priya is ready. Yeah!” he replied to his sister cheerfully. He was enjoying this. Priya cornered for a change.

“Yes! Let's cut the cake.” replied Priya.

“let's cut the cake...what?” asked ram knowing fully well she doesn’t have anywhere to escape now. She knew she can’t win this time. She is trapped so she decided to own it to ram’s delight. She took his hand in her hand looked straight in his eyes, smiled and said “let's celebrate your birthday......Ram.”

so that's about it I know its not much but please leave like and comments and tell me what you liked or didn't like. this short story was only suppose to be this much only but lately i have been thinking about changing it into a FF. so do tell me should i continue or not?
