I think it was an involuntary reaction 😆He was too preoccupied with the turn of events and spying on Fatejo to care for common sense. It's like rubbing eyes and staring again even though you know what you are seeing.

And his expressions at the end did seem like he heard their convo which is absurd or he got really good at lip reading after non stop spying 😆
