Abhimanyu Birla
When we first meet him, he is basically perfect successful, mature, caring, good-looking, charming.....
Seriously the list could go on. He seemed just so easy to love. He wears his heart on his sleeves and when he felt something for Akshu, he immediately acts on it. Akshu responds positively and we see some beautiful first love moments( that's for another post though)
But thing was that was on surface, we saw that man from Akshara's point view.
He's also a great son, big brother, the protector. He act as a shield between her father and mother (damn, I immediately fell in love with him).
But he is kind, but not the talking to strangers type. Infact, he ignores the people he doesn't know. The only people he talk to on the trip is Akshu, neal and kairav. He only talk to the later cause kairav confronted him. He later acknowledge Aarohi during the video call and talk to Mimi but that was for Akshu's sake.
We see he had, a bad relationship with his father.
Manjari once warned him about his anger, and once after a fight with his father he's literally shaking with anger. That was the first time it was hinted that he had issues. But we also learn that he meditates and listen to music to deal with them. He isolats himself when he's really angry. He understands that he have anger issues and actually try to deal with them.
Then the tilak fiasco happens, and we learn more things about him. He is extremely confident, have no regrets, his attitude in life is "I did what I did, no regrets". He also says few things about himself "that I don't believe in hiding how I feel" he means it, infact when he had to in future he suck at it cause that's not his forte.
We starts seeing layers of his character than, he was broken, angry but still determined.
"Jitana mushqil mere liye is pyaar mein padna tha, mein tumhare liye is pyaar se nikalna uthna hi mushqil kar dunga."
We also learn that even though adored and loved by his family he have no one, as he was the one consoling manjari, even though he went through a heartbreak. This man is a rock for people he loves.
His anger and frustration completely vanishes the moment Akshu calls, it shouldn't have been ok. As no matter what lots of things needed to be discussed but this pampered child of Birla family doesn't care as long as he have "his Akshu" in his life. This itself sound negative but Abhimanyu isn't. He genuinely doesn't understand, as no emotional contact outside his family. He doesn't really understand how relationships works, for him if he and akshara loves each other they should be together.
His "my akshu" wasn't to treat her like a thing it was his way of saying, I am hers and she is mine.
We also learns in the episode how he commands a room, the authority he has over people.
He is happy again and again he's the Abhimanyu we know and love.
Yes, it was stupid of him to bring akshu home first before having a private talk. But harsh knows Abhimanyu, it was a challenge when he told Abhi that if Akshu confess in front of the family he would get them married. Harsh unlike Abhimanyu is aware of the wrongness of the situation that if Akshu didn't say a word on tilak day it's unlikely she would confess in front of the whole family in a day. But ofcourse Abhimanyu caught the bait.
He gives up on Akshu, even though he still "knows" she loves him. Yes he made a mistake here by not asking her why?? Because just yesterday she was looking at him lovelorn and the fact that she loves him. But he's angry again and yes, he is a smart person but he never think straight when he's angry.
He is completely heart broken now,( how amazingly he portrayed heart break in these inicial scenes), here he is self-centered. He in his sorrow doesn't realise how this is affecting his family. Their world revolves around him but he doesn't seem to care. Again a negative trait and yes, I agree he is self centered but nobody told him that he is, that he's hurting his family according to him he's just minding his own business. (I am sure Akshu would make him see the fault in this).
The problem starts during his birthday, he genuinely smiles when his mother sings, he is still hurt but is trying to be happy for his family. But when he learns Akshu organised the party, the hope he squashed raises again.
During the molestation case, we see yet again the anger raising in him, the scene with harsh where he refused to get Akshu involved gives me goosebumps. Harsh genuinely looks scared. Usually Abhi control his anger on time like after the tilak fiasco, when harsh raise a hand on manjari. Even harsh now realise that Abhimanyu wouldn't budge so he agrees but goes behind his back. We see how stubborn this man is. It doesn't matter if Akshu is not with him, he would fight the world and move mountains to protect her(she would do the same, as she's doing now).
The scene in goenka house remind us again how he commands respect and obedience when he enters a room.
He is sure after the trail he knows he can make her confess but Akshu refuses again and this time she wound his pride. He is angrier now....
The first thought of his concious mind was, "where is Akshara?" After the fire. He's hurt and angry and again swallow his pride and calls her to ask her clearly "why she left?" But her response angered him more and the only thing he managed is a sarcastic "thanks for asking I'm okay" .
"Maine galati se phone nahi kiya hai, jisse baat karni hoti hai usiko phone karta hu". This is another one of his traits he says what he feels. No awkwardness, or thinking how another person would feel. He would say what's in his mind, it is what it is, just deal with it.
He is angrier now and barely holding his anger.(there is pattern here that, whenever it's about Akshu he is barely in control of his emotions)
After overhearing Akshara during the music therapy session, he lost all control. He can break all chairs he wants but this time he was livid. He just don't understand why would she do this, why deny them both the happiness. And he went and made the biggest mistake. Cause what does it matter if he can't have Akshu atleast he would make his mother happy by marrying. Also the thing here is this man always had what he wanted, for the first time he was denied something and according to him without a valid reason. The smart doctor we were first introduced to would have found out cause the signs were there. But this man is overtaken by his anger, he is not thinking straight. This is the same man but this side of him is not on surface.
He taunt Akshu, not to hurt her but to get a reaction thinking if he pushed her enough she would push back. He asked Aarohi, but the terms were clear.
He subconsciously expected Manish to say no but he said yes.
His whole crazy act during the functions was out of anger, this man lost control. He softens the moment she hugs him vunerable, and when she goes missing he doesn't rest until he finds her.
He kept pushing, the more she refused to cave in the angrier he got. That scene after mehandi sequence shows how hard it was for him to hurt her and yet he in his ignorence keeps doing it cause he's desperate and looking for a way out.
After the accident, his guilt doesn't let him face her, even though she was pleading. He will find about the fire accident soon. And no way we can predict how he will react, he doesn't care about who saved him but the lie Akshu told him would turn the tables again.
The thing is he is unpredictable, but if Akshu confess he would forget everything. Without acknowledging the elephant in the room. This man see world in black and white order. But ofcourse the issues would come later.
He is inexperienced in relationships, his whole family cave in to his demands and his father doesn't so he's the enemy. He is like a child in the manner.
If Akshu pacify him, all's good but if she refuse, he would act out. But that wouldn't change the fact that he loves her with all his heart and wouldn't let an outer factor hurt her.
Yes, he is flawed and needs to learn a lot but his heart is in right place.
P.S. this post turn out to be a mess no direction, no time to edit. But since I spent hours on it might as well as post it. Do tell me if you disagree.
