I feel like priya challenges him on a fundamental level. He has always been very confounded by her. Everyone only takes from him but she gives him a companionship which he has never experienced before. Everytime he thinks that he has her figured out she confounds him again with her actions which just attracts him more to her. Like a moth to a fire but in his case the fire is his salvation not his end to emerge as a better version of himself.
