A Scattering of Attraction
What if, they kissed first and then discovered their attraction to one another.

It is the night of the party and Aryan of course announced Imlie would be singing a song for all the guests.
After Imlie finished her song, she excuses herself to go around the corner and cry her eyes out. The song resonated with her current condition so deeply that she had almost begun to think that happiness and laughter were the luxury that she could not afford to have in her life.
Such was her pain. Even though she promised herself that she would not think about Aditya anymore, somehow her heart would not let her forget.
She didn’t know if what she felt for him was love, attraction or just a passing fancy of an innocent village girl bound forcefully in an unwanted marriage. She somehow felt that she carried the bulk of the responsibility of their relationship and its failure.
Whatever her feelings were, she had tried to save and maintain the relationship for a whole year, while Aditya belittled her, discredited her and disrespected her.
During her emotional internal monologue, Aryan approached her “You are still thinking about that man, when will you learn to let go.”
Imlie looked up to him with her tearful brown eyes, “my emotions are not for you to command and be turned on or off at your will, I thought I told you that. I am trying to move on but these feeling keep surfacing. You told me not to turn off my emotions like you did.”
Hearing this anger bubbled inside Aryan, not because this chit of a girl was telling him the truth of his situation but because she was still being affected by the ghost of a dead relationship with AKT. No matter what happened between Imlie and Aditya and no matter how much he hurt her, Imlie would not stop caring for him.
“You are not some donkey to carry the burden of the world on your shoulders. Why can’t you see that the people for whom you are making these sacrifices for are not worth it.” Aryan retorted angrily.
Not knowing how else to get rid of him she yelled back “Feeling and caring for my loved ones is not a burden, I will not think of my loved ones a burden.”
“My problem is that this burden of yours is due to Mr. Aditya Kumar Tripathi, a man who just a few days ago divorced you and promptly married your step-sister just so he can humiliate you and your relationship in front of the world.”
If there was anytime that Imlie wanted to truly rip someone to pieces, it was now and it was this man in front of her. Deep down she knew he was telling the truth, showing her reality of her stupid situation that she just had to try harder to get out.
While they were both arguing, and just as she was almost ready to throw in the towel and walk away the lights had dimmed and in the background a romantic number was playing.
Aryan being how irritated he was with her today, simply dragged her further towards the darkened corner. Before she could even protest, he simply pulled her close and started swaying to the song.
It felt like the best way for him to shut her up and distract her from her and their current situation.
Their awkward initial movements began to give way to a slow build of rhythm, slowly her hands crept up towards his shoulders, while his encircled her waist as they swayed side to side in a synchronized fashion.
She still would not look at him and he still would not let her go, far. He was angry at her and for some odd reason felt like he needed her near to calm down.
He twirled her and dipped her before pulling her back in deeper to his embrace, she slowly looked up at his eyes, dark deep orbs that pulled her in, not knowing how to react to his proximity Imlie felt herself moving in closer to his warmth. Not breaking the eye contact they kept swaying to the music oblivious to the party.
Slowly he brought his lips near her ear and apologized for being rude to her and also how he had hurt her when he held her at the office.
Shocked at never having received an apology from him and the way his voice and his warm breath were tingling at her heightened senses, she again looked up and misjudged how close his lips were to her face.
Their lips touched, while a part of her wanted to pull away, another wanted to stay. Aryan sensing her hesitation, took charge to close the gap between them and deepened their connection.
Closing her eyes, forgetting everything else Imlie enjoyed the feeling of her first kiss.
