As for istanbul gelin it was inspired from a book this psychiatrist wrote about her patients and their stories. They actually show emotional issues of the women and men in the show and even therapy sessions of the antagonist guy lol the women actually have issues and its from the mother to the bahus. The mom also has this bitter sweet love story with her true love who returns to her life after 40 years its very cute and bittersweet coz they deserved to have been together. There is angst in all the love stories of the sons and some are really bad and some not that crazy lol also nearly every dinner or event ends in some kind of kaand or tamasha lol the family argues a lot lol

I've heard that the Turkish TV industry is highly competitive and shows get axed quickly if they don't get good ratings. Don't know how far it's true though..

Instanbul gelin sounds really interesting! And wow therapy sessions.... Always a welcome idea. I wish more ITV shows would incorporate this.
