He did not realise till she teared up and this he would try not to repeat... he was probably too shocked with his ownself to apologise. He is not the man to lay himself out in front of anybody.

Agreed, I get what he was sorry about in the initial incident. He wasn’t ashamed, he was sorry about what had to happen.

Here he was wrong and he shouldn’t have done it. In this case he should’ve been ashamed. But I see what you’re saying, it’s one of the things I thought myself - the reason he tried to use non-verbal cues, is he was shocked by his actions and didn’t know how to say sorry when he actually should have.

My two cents on that opening scene: "Imlie let's go"

- Aryan's reaction to Imlie's "I don't want to go" started off soft with Jaaniyaaa playing in the background, the two of them staring deeply into the others eyes. But then the softness disappears

- Aryan has a controlling moment here for sure. He again reiterates what he said before, about Ma waiting. What goes unsaid is that Ma is Ma to both of them. (Also it's interesting that right after they have a light convo about husband/wife relation and a bahu's role 🤔)

. Imlie in shock from the feed cutting off, looks down at her arm where he is holding her too hard. Jaaniyaa starts again, and she starts to cry. It's not until the first tear drops that Aryan realizes and abruptly lets go. She backs away rubbing her arm, lost in her thoughts.

- When he approaches her next, it's with resolve and calm. Not anger. Then her hand in his, a new soft and sweet song playing in the background, they leave the "control room" (👀😂). Imlie's eyes wet and searching, she notices her hand in his, takes comfort, becomes present and finally wipes the tears she likely had no idea were falling until that moment. Her eyes, the look on her face.

- What that scene meant to me is that Aryan wants Imlie to leave her pain and past behind, but it's easier said than done for Imlie. She's trying, really she is. But it will have to be at her own pace. There is no place for Aryan's feelings and emotions when it comes to the pain Aditya has left behind in Imlie. Aryan will have to deal with his frustrations on his own and not burden Imlie with what he is feeling. He is also trying. But like Imlie he is also struggling with how to adjust to this new world - the two of them "together". It will take time.

That “she’s mine” instinct. I definitely see that. Buried deep in his subconscious. This recognition that she’s something to him. It’s like in romance novels when the male has that realization, “she’s mine”. Like he’d do absolutely anything for her happiness.

This includes, letting her fly, even if it is away from him, as long as she isn’t flying straight into the sun, to get burned. In that case he’ll step in. I think this was showcased by that random office scene. She’s his, but her happiness and what she wants is the most important thing, but even that has a line if it’s toxic for her and she can’t see it.

I'll agree that other fl was damsel in distress because of very toxic oppressing family until she met her guy and he very much told her to take control of her life and she went ahead and got her family members arrested... In essence he helped her break out of self victimization and take responsibility of her own life/happiness...

Aryan keeps trying to do the same... Like letting her drive his car is essentially saying take driving seat in your life as well. I think that ends the parallel apart from that Aryan doesn't have usual bias like this guy only called her out for being weak nothing else.

While imlie's problem isn't family but societal bias being an illegitimate child she has compulsive need for that "naam" wala clean rishta... And divorce is no small blot for someone with imlie's background.
