This vedika is too much drama. She needs a bucket to fill with all the water works she is doing and get out of priya’s house. Good that priya put her in her place. Your writing is awesome👌. Just have some daya on us and reveal where has ram been all this while🤣. Eagerly waiting for the next one.

Chapter 3: Please be OK Ram!

Everyone is in ram and Priya's bedroom circling the bed while the doctor was checking Priya. Meera and sara were sitting on either side of the bed with Brinda and sandy holding each other in the corner as sandy was crying looking at Priya all pale.

“How is she? What happened to her? Is it serious? Should we take her to the hospital?” came a voice from the other side of the bed holding Priya's hand.

“It's not a big deal. All the fatigue, stress and lack of food got to her. She just needs some rest and good meal and your wife will be back to her usual self-Mr.Kapoor.” replied the doctor looking between Priya and ram. ram looked a mess himself with all the disheveled cloths and dark circles. “I should maybe prescribe you the same Mr.kapoor. I don’t know what traumatic experience you both went through but you need some rest yourself. I have given an injection to Mrs. Kapoor she should be up in a couple of hours. If you feel that she's in distress, feel free to call me. She can experience headaches after she wakes up.” ram nodded and gestured Kunal to take him outside.

“Meera aunty you and everyone should go, have some rest too. You have been up all night too because of some irresponsible people. Priya is ok now. when she wakes up, I will call for you. I have asked Tarun to open some guest rooms.” said Brinda giving a stink eye to ram. She was pissed at ram for making them go through the trauma of thinking he might be dead for an entire night and the audacity of this man; he comes back and doesn’t even explain where was he the entire night. All he said was his phone was dead so he couldn’t contact anyone as he doesn’t remember any phone numbers and he is sorry. Do hell with his sorry all she wanted was some alone time with ram so she can get her answers or there will be a ram shaped dead body on the floor by tonight. She wanted her answers the moment ram walked into the mansion with Kunal, sandy and Neeraj but when Priya fainted seeing ram she kept quiet all this while but now it was getting impossible for her to not say anything. Although it was fun to watch Vedika's face when she rushed to ram to hug him but he sidetracked her and ran to take Priya in his arms the minute she fainted. She is worried for Priya but she appreciated Priya for fainting in that moment. This will teach ram a lesson.

Everyone accepted her offer and moved out. Nandini clutched ram’s shoulder and ram looked up at her. “Again, it's good to see you are fine ram. You gave all of us a good scare. Don’t do this again. I will see you in the party in few hours. If Priya wakes up or you need anything don’t hesitate to come to me. And happy birthday ram.” she said before moving out.

The minute it was only Priya, ram and his friends in the room, Brinda quickly moved and closed the door before anyone can go out or come inside. Then she took a deep breath, turned and narrowed her eyes and launched herself at ram by hitting him on the head with a pillow.

“Baby....”

“No Adi don’t defend him today. He needs to tell us what's going on. There was no business meeting in London. He brings back Vedika in the house, and then goes out of the country for two days leaving his ex with his wife in the same home when we ask him to tell Priya the truth. He comes back and goes missing for an entire night making us all believe that he is in trouble. I was quiet because I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but look at this poor soul all pale on the bed. Do you have any idea that this woman, YOUR WIFE, has been at her wits end for the last 12 hours. She hasn’t eaten anything; she stressed out of her mind and she kept praying the entire night. No, you don’t know anything, you know why because you weren't here. I was here, sitting beside her, listening to her murmuring ‘Please be ok Ram’ the ENTIRE night. You buffoon WHERE WERE YOU?”

“Yes, ram where were you? What was your phone doing at mumbai-pune expressway. It's a two-hour drive and also its not on your way home. It's on the other side of the city!" asked Vikrant.

Ram looked at Priya with red eyes and bend his head before replying.

“Well, my bag got exchanged with someone at airport and I needed to get it back so after almost 3 hours of hard work I got to know who has my bag but the driver has already left the airport and my phone were dead so I took a cab and went after that person who was leaving for pune. I caught up to him and when I was returning, I saw a crashed car and the driver were badly injured so I took him to the nearest hospital and paid the fee which I guess alerted you all to think I was in the accident. Then Neeraj came to the hospital to follow up on the transaction and told me that you all think I'm missing. Just when I was leaving for home, Kunal and sandy came and told me everything and I ran back as soon as I got to know that Priya fainted. When Adi called Kunal to tell him that Priya has fainted I was with him but the connection was poor so he couldn't tell Adi that I'm with him and I'm ok. I know it's my mistake but I'm sorry I never wanted all this to happen and to think I'm the reason why Priya is unconscious, its feels like hell. Trust me when I saw her in this condition, I stopped breathing. I have never felt like this before Bri.”

“Hah! That’s why you left her alone for two days to deal with your mess? What kind of concern is this ram? Why did you even go to London and lied about the reason too. What was so important huh? And about this bag, this stupid-stupid bag! Since when does THE RAM KAPOOR started to care about a bag? I don’t understand anything! I'm so mad at you ram.” replied a furious Brinda.

“I did what you wanted me to do Bri.”

“Excuse me! When did I ask you to go to a foreign country and lie about it to your wife? Can you explain this before pointing fingers at me which I want to break since you have returned.”

“You wanted me to tell her everything. I went London to prepare for it. I don’t know how all this works. I have married only once. ” there were four different gasps in the room simultaneously after ram spoke these words.

“WHAT? Did I... did I hear him right Adi? He went to prepare.....that's what he said, prepare for “it” in London, right?

“What, like a sacrificial lamb you went for your last hurrah to London, before you are sacrificed to your wife?” asked a horrified Kunal.

“Only married once?” said a terrified Adi looking at Brinda and gulping at the thought of what will happen to ram now.

“If you wanted a last hurrah, why didn’t you take us with you? A little company would have been better, don’t you think?” Asked a confused Vikrant scratching his head.

“Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Shut up you all.” yelled Brinda and then she crashed onto the sofa, held her forehead in her palms, closed her eyes took another deep breath, looked up at ram deadpan in the face and said “explain yourself before I kill you.”

“Bri, mine and her relation is not yet to a stage where we understand each other completely, we have communication gaps, we can't express us to each other, also she never reacts like a normal wife. She never wants the things that normal women around me wants. I get completely flustered around her and she misunderstands my reactions as indifference towards her. But she affects me in a way no one has ever affected me before. I want to make her happy but I just keep disappointing her in more ways than I can think of. You know it's so easy to make mom, Shivi and you happy. I have always known how to make the women in my life happy, just buy you guys your favourite labels and designers and you all are over the moon. But with her it's never even near easy. She’s different, her wants, her needs, she doesn’t want expensive things. She doesn’t deserve easy things. She is a unique blend of rare.” ram said all this looking at Priya, smiling at her like telling her a personal joke all the while rubbing his thumb on the back of her hand.

“Well last night we all saw a regular wife, who cares about her husband a lot, who was worried for him and praying for him to return back safely to her.” at this ram look at her for confirmation and she nodded her head and gave him a small smile. But he didn’t continue ahead so she continued. “But all this still doesn’t answer my question, why you went to London instead of talking to Priya about Vedika?” asked Brinda a little worried now, after listening to ram. She couldn’t comprehend where he was going with all this.

After thinking for two minutes ram got up and walked up to his suitcase, he brought back from London, unzipped it and pulled out a tattered book from inside it. Its spine was broken, like someone had read it for thousands of times. Ram held it delicately, and walked up to Brinda sat on his knees in front of her handed her the book and said “this is the reason I went to London.”

THE GOD OF THE SMALL THINGS by Arundhati Roy the title read. She didn’t understand, infact none of them understood the meaning of it all.

“What does this book have to do with all this?” she asked raising an eyebrow.

“This book has everything to do with this and Priya.” replied ram.

“How?” asked all his friends now curious to know what was so special about this book that ram went to London and went after that driver to get it back.

He took a deep breath and replied “when we got married and Priya was shifting her things into our room I saw this book and tried to start a conversation but she dodged it and changed the topic. So, the next time I was alone with sara di I asked her about it, and she told me this is Priya's favourite book. It was given to her by a teacher as a first prize in a debate when she was 12, her parents had just separated. This book became her companion. She got attached to it, she found solace in it, she got inspired by the author and decided to be an English professor. She always wanted to get it signed by the author and also wanted to get a handwritten note from her. Every year on her birthday she still reads it. I had thought I will get it signed by the author before her birthday, but with Vedika around and with the pending conversation that I need to have with Priya, I didn’t know if I will get a chance to get it signed before her birthday. So, I contacted the author and got to know she was having a meet and greet in London yesterday. So, I went there. Open the book.”

Brinda opened the book and a tear slipped her eyes after reading the handwritten note that Arundhati had crafted just for Priya. And she couldn’t believe the man sitting in front of her. “Why?” she had started to sob by now. She wiped her tears and tried again. “Why now? So sudden? Her birthday is not for another few months.”

“I know but I could not wait that long.” she looked at ram confused after hearing this.

“Why Jaan?” ram turned and stared at Priya's face for a long minute before he stood and sat on the bed holding her hand again before replying to Brinda.

“What if she decides to leave me Bri? I wanted to make her happy one last time if she decides that I'm not worth her time after knowing about Vedika. What if she thinks I hid the truth about Vedika because I don’t respect and trust her and she gets disappointed again. I want to fulfil her every wish but she never lets me, I had to lie.” Brinda walked to the bed and sat in front of ram beside Priya. While Adi, Kunal and Vikrant were silently looking at the scene and marveling at their connection.

“Ohh Jaan, why do you think she would leave you?” she held ram’s other hand and presses it lightly to show her support and encourage him. He has been staring at Priya with tears in his eyes. He wiped his tears and finally spoke with a heavy throat.

“Because all the important people in my life leave me Bri. Mom, dad, now what if she decides to leave me too. I want her to know she matters to me. She walked to the temple for me because I matter to her. I wanted to not tell but show her she matters to me more than any past relation. That I don't want her to leave me. Only she is my present and my future.

So here I am with another chapter. I know you all have been waiting for the update. I am sorry i got busy and forgot to update. I planned this chapter a little differently in my head but it turned out better than i thought according to me. it has been a while since we got a heart to heart between ram and brinda and i was missing it so dedicated this chapter to one of the cutest bonds on balh2. i hope you all liked it. please leave your thoughts below. would love to read how you all felt after reading it.

I started reading and went through emotions exactly like bri. But as it progressed and specially last few scenes gosh it was so beautiful.Ram's fear ,his insecurities, was written damn 👍 update soon
