He might be right but I think he has his own BS definition of actors who have to prove themselves. Wonder how much he pays the "veteran actress" Alia.

Probably not near what a top or even mid tier male actor would get otherwise she'd show up on the top 10 actor tax payer list.  When she does show up it will more likely be because of her business ventures outside films or because she's made 4 or 5 films in one year.

Negotiation tactic with Ranveer?

Below the belt negotiation tactics.

People ask what they feel they're worth. If you think the ask is ridiculously high, then either negotiate or simply move on. You don't go around shaming those actors (I'm pretty sure he must be dropping names off the record).

Surprising actually. I would think she deserves as much as a mid tier male actor.

He loves to launch veteran actors' kids. So how come he expects them not to ask for high fees.

He makes sense

From a producers point of view, there is no justification why an actor who canā€™t even guarantee a 5 Crore opening , should get 30-50 Crores salary

The producers would be bankrupt if thatā€™s the case ā€¦

Karthik, sid, Vicky, varun, rajkumar Rao, ranveer are all inconsistent ā€¦some films open well and some films tank from the first day itself so they themselves canā€™t guarantee any high numbers ā€¦depends on trailer, production house , director, and universal appeal of the film

Ayushman is a lil more consistent but again, with him it heavily depends on the trailer and theme (I donā€™t think chandigarh movie did nearly as much as his previous releases)

Tiger is probably the only one with a base audience (mass audience) who can somewhat guarantee a respectable opening

If you canā€™t afford then move on and find someone else.

But absolutely no business in judging them/criticizing them.

Of course it's his business as a producer and film maker.  How can he not discuss the single biggest expense of a film and how it affects budgeting and financing - especially in a Producers discussion panel.  That and Anupama asked a question about still rising salaries in the face of loss of theatrical during covid.

Discussion starts around 18 minutes
