Merry Christmas peeps! Been chilling with my family and not caught up properly on yrkkh but I’ve been thinking of the adoption mystery. Not that the writers can be trusted for consistency but here are the facts so far:
- Manjari told Abhi she carried him in her womb for 9 months at the first Tilak. She also said she was terrified because it took him 20 seconds to cry after being born. So we can only conclude Abhi is her biological child and (unless she was having an EMA) also Harsh’s child. He is not adopted.
- The child she imagines is about 4-5 years old and her memory is of him calling out for his mother through the bars. This is a painful recollection to Manjari as a mother. So I think she left a child at the orphanage and secretly went to visit him from time to time till he was adopted by ANOTHER family. That’s the paper she’s hiding - it’s a record of adoption of her child by someone else and that could be the secret Harsh etc don’t know. Of course I have no idea how adoption works in India so I could be totally wrong!
Here’s my thinking:
- Why give up a child for adoption? The critical thing here is Harsh and the rest of the Birlas would have to know if manjari was pregnant - they’re doctors and she is just not smart enough to hide a pregnancy. So this means maybe Harsh made her give up this child - did he only want one child? If so this is another character they will try to bring in later (maybe a black character like Rajveer in Bepannah or grey like Shubham in S2). OR she was pregnant out of wedlock like Gayu and Harsh only agreed to marry her if she gave up her child and Mahima is somehow involved in all this. But even so this child could not be Neil as he would be older than Abhi.
- The alternative is Neil is adopted by Birlas after Harsh made his biological mother (maybe his mistress) give him up for adoption. Manjari found out and the crying child is her memory of Neil’s mother leaving him at the orphanage. Possibly Manjari then him adopted out of pity. But this doesn’t explain how she ALONE knows about the adoption. She just doesn’t seem to have the competence or wherewithal to carry out an adoption alone. And would it even be allowed without both parental consent? Everyone in the Birla family knows Neil is “like a son” and Harsh dislikes him. Maybe because he’s not blood or his illegitimate son, who knows. But if he’s adopted obviously it will be known to everyone in that family. The only thing that may be a secret is he is illegitimate. Then why would the paper be a secret - it’s not going to list he’s Harshs illegitimate son (I assume).
- clearly Abhi knows something that makes him hate his father but not his mother. His mother knows he knows something which is why she fainted - so does Abhi also know the secret of these adoption papers? If Harsh made Manjari give up her biological child, to me that explains the anger Abhi would feel toward his father and protectiveness towards his mother - she was forced to give up her own child by her husband. Harsh’s cruelty would become a good reason for Abhi’s hate.
- I don’t know where this leaves Neil. It’s clear he’s not considered family but Abhi and Manjari treat him as one. If he is Manjari’s biological child, was he given up for adoption and then later brought back?
- My final guess is this adoption matter will be exactly like the Shubham track where Swarna’s insane decision was whitewashed by Naira to heal the rift between her and Kartik. They will make some compelling reason behind Harsh’s behavior. Akshu will find out and heal the rift between Papa Birla and Abhi thus winning papa to her side.
TL:DR - Abhi is not adopted, Neil is a red herring, Manjari is not smart enough to adopt anyone or give anyone up for adoption without Harsh or other Birla’s knowledge, and there may be another Manjari son she was forced to give up by Harsh waiting to make an entrance. What do y’all think?
