Note:

Y’all! I haven't written in a while but Miss.M tempted me to write this anecdote. Also, this is a purely Shiva only anecdote and a what if situation with a throwback to the haveli scene where Dhara asks Shiva to get Raavi a gift for her birthday! This anecdote is structured differently than the rest :)

I wrote this in 20 mins, so please forgive!

Anecdote 5

Present Day:

The Pandya family was discussing during breakfast about how to plan the perfect surprise party for Raavi as her birthday was the next day. Raavi was not in the haveli that morning as she stayed the night at her Maasi Maa’s house to complete the phagphera ritual.

Amidst the chaotic discussion about how Krish would not be able to keep the party planning a secret from Raavi, Dhara turned to Shiva and said, “Aur Shiva, shaadi ke baad yeh Raavi ki pehli birthday hai iss ghar mein, sochle kya gift dega!”

“Bhabhi main usse kuch gift vift nahi dena wala” Shiva responded sharply.

“Kyun nahi dega? Dena padega”

“Bhabhi-”

“Kuch nahi sunna mujhe, tu gift dega matlab dega” Dhara said.

Shiva went back to his room, trying to think of a gift to give the chipkali.

“Kahan phasa diya bhabhi ne, uss mami ki behen ki beti ko toh maine zindagi mein tofa nahi diya, an kya doon?” Shiva thought to himself as he was pacing the room.

He looked at the dresser, “kuch make up ka samaan doon kya?” he thought but then shrugged that thought off.

Shiva walked up to the closet and opened it, “Saree doon? Chee” he left that thought as well.

“Shayad handbag? Nahi nahi, kuch gehene? Arrey nahi.” he continued to think.

He went and sat on the bed and released a sigh, “abbey, kya gift doon uss tubelight ko?” he asked out loud as he closed his eyes in frustration.

“Oye, bade Shiva” said a voice

Shiva opened his eyes in confusion and saw a 10 year old version of himself in front of him.

“Tu yahan?” Shiva asked

“Haan teri help karne aaya hoon” Chotu Shiva said

“Help? Kaisa Help?”

“Tujhe yaad nahi hoga pan mujhe yaad hai, tu ne na Raavi ke 9th birthday par usse ek gift diya” Chotu Shiva continued.

“Bilkul bhi nahi, maine usse kabhi koi tofa nahi diya”

“Arrey diya, main keh raha hoon na. Yaad karo. Accha ek hint deta hoon”

“Haan Please?” Shiva asked the younger version of himself excitedly.

“Hint hai uska nickname!” Chotu shiva said and vanished as Shiva blinked his eyes

“Oye! Kahan gaya tu?” Shiva asked as he looked around the room

“Nickname? Gadhedi? Nahi nahi. Umm. Dhakkan diya tha kya maine? Bilkul bhi nahi. OH CHIPKALI!” Shiva exclaimed as a memory came back to him.

It was Raavi’s 9th birthday party and Gautam gave each of the brothers 15 rupees to buy a gift for Raavi.

Dev got her some hair clips, Krish bought her chocolates and a 10 year old Shiva picked up a plastic lizard to give her. He overheard Raavi and a friend conversing about their fears where Raavi mentioned her fear for lizards and the prankster Shiva could not let go of this opportunity.

Later, during the party, a 9 year old Raavi was opening all the gifts she received and thanking her friends. She then opened a small packet that did not have the name of the person who gifted it.

As she opened it, she let out a scream as soon as she realized she was holding a plastic lizard and went to hug her Maama.

Everyone at the party was trying to calm a screaming Raavi but there was only one person laughing, Shiva.

As Raavi heard the laugh, she looked at him and ran toward Shiva to teach him a lesson. However, before she could get hold of him, Gautam and Maama intervened and tried to stop a fight from erupting.

Present Day:

Shiva chuckled at that memory and quickly got up to run to the market and buy another plastic chipkali for his chipkali’s birthday!
