We'd a few plays from Marathai literature in our college, and they were amazing. Aadhe adhure, and Kashiram Goshwal or something like that.
Yeah I've always hated northies for this I mean not that their wrong but I don't mean this badly but they have very limited and trashy sence of literature and cinema . Yeah it's called Gashiram kotwal it's by vijay tendulkar. Even Tarak mehta very tiny bit is inspired by a legend in marathi literature called as Pu la deshpande . His book batatyachi chaal was a one act play where he played dozens of characters it's fantastic .
Yeah u seem to be someone that enjoys vivid and well crafted cinema . I don't know how aware u are about marathi cinema but I would suggest u watch the movie called kakasprash on Netflix or Amazon. It's pre independence the beauty and uniqueness of storytelling is fabulous it's a very unique love story admist the struggle of a widow. Her desire for sexual satisfaction , her trauma her struggle to be freed from the clutches of the society is mind blowing. Or the movie nude on women who pose as models and nude artists their life and struggle. The beauty of the human body and the need to look beyond flesh and lust is beautifully potrayed.😊
Well bollywood has destroyed marathi cinema . Marathi cinema despite being a independent industry is probably the Only industry in the world that dosent even have a name and is just categorised into bollywood.its disgusting . The amount of struggle actors face it's painful . But despite that they don't give up . The movie shwaas which I told u of which means breathe is about a 8 year old boy about to lose his eye sight and it's about a grandfathers struggle to introduce his grandson to the colour and beauty of the world befor his loses his eye sight it's so simple yet alluring.
The movie literally had no money for it to be sent for the Oscars literally small school going kids in villages in Maharashtra arranged for car wash and making lanterns and wood craft workshops to pool in money . Many directors sold their vehicles and one literally sold his small piece of land as the had no money. There have been many cases like this for example the movie dhadak was remade from sairat which the director literally picked his cast from a mela that we was attending back home in his village he sold his land literally lived of minimals to save money to make that movie.
All actors earn very less even lesser than what a loser b grade hindi movie actor earns and despite that they refuse to give up trying and pushing to make better cinema . A actor called subhodh bhave who's like literally the most admired actor in the industry actually held meetings to convince actors to charge less fees and to live on basic amenities provided by the production or that actors should bear their own cost if needed so that the movie content shouldn't be compromised.
It's really sick jitna bollywood aivaiye udata hain agar utna budget marathi Indu stry Amin hota toh kaaha sa kaaha jaate. There is hardly one or two star kids that succeed woh bhi nobody even knew they were star kids as marathi mdeia dosent cover their personal lives. It's like even if u look like hritik roshan but can't act u better sit home nobody gives u work. There is no pressure of color or fairness obsession or being a certain body type be it men or women marathi audience like their actors being relatable with many be it onscreen or offscreen have no quamls roaming around with gray hair, bald patches or non six pack bodies they are appreciated more lije that with audience demanding saying don't put up a facade put them onscreen just the way they are.
