Oh yes I've watched Karwan cauz of dulquer salman and obviously Irrfan Khan . I do still watch bollywood but very rarely a very few selective movies but older ones I've watched alot.
With marathi the issue is that bollywood literally overpowers to a point that very often marathi industry has to go to court cauz bollywood doesn't even allot them theatres it's really nasty. It's really a big mafia it's horrible to a point of disgust. It's super toxic with marathi content being pushed into the corner despite having mind blowing writers and fabulous actors. It's only after 2004 that the began to notice when a marathi movie went to Oscars and after 2015 movie court that went to Oscars as well as won many international awards that they sat up and took notice with now literally everyone from salman to John wanting to remake or work in marathi cinema. But one thing I loved was that they were very strictly made aware of the way the marathi audience works and that if they wanted to make the same kind of nonsensical masala movie they better stay out as they wouldn't sell and that they shouldn't start interfering and bringing in non sensical objectifying trashy songs and that they shouldn't expect the same over the top treatment as that's not how marathi cinema works or functions. There have been like a river of marathi movies having a huge audience abroad and winning awards and being appreciated for its extremely simple and realistic approach to cinema . Jitna ek bollywood trailer yaa ad banane mai jaata hain utna main chaar paach marathi movies baan jaate hain.
Marathi is a very small super knit industry u never really even see people acting all wild seeing them in public cauz that's how cinema is approached as that's how the marathi industry has kept themselves if u see most of offscreen ud be suprised how casual they live and haven't been provided that air of being larger than life. Best is actors once they age be it actors or actresses they have ample of beautiful stories for their age with no pressure to hide their age and pretend to be 20 year olds romancing In college. There is array of hard hitting content driven movies that are told without anybody feeling inferior of being overshadowed or no longer getting work cauz of their age.
Marathi is the only industry where theatre is more popular than cinema.
It's also cauz marathi as a culture that endorses simplicity in its marriages, lifestyle and movies as well as literature. Hence I ahte bollywood remaking movies and destroying the very core of our culture and making it look all raunchy and loud .
Like they turned a commander and army chief basically a prime minister of the state Bajirao bhallal who never lost a war and was one of the best strategies into a lovelorn drunkard Devdas and never shed light on his military excellence. They completely twisted the story and turned it into a love story very opposite of how it was in maratha history.
U would be surprised how Om Puri and even nasiruddin shah has worked intensively in marathi theatre remakes and has worked in a few marathi movies people after a interview were very suprised when he said how he thinks marathi actors are much superior in their craft and how he in college grew up watching marathi theatre that influenced him more to want to be a actor. And that it was a marathi play that made him be fascinated with story telling and cinema.
Nasiruddin shah remade this play in college and it was a turning point for him that made him forever turn to this craft. It's is a play called surya pahilala manus which means man who saw the sun on Socrates it's probably one of the best theatre masterpieces I've come across in the Indian subcontinent.😊

We'd a few plays from Marathai literature in our college, and they were amazing. Aadhe adhure, and Kashiram Goshwal or something like that.

UD is giving more TRP than big boss? Holy F. They might try to extend it indefinitely. UD has to be the show giving highest returns... away from mumbai, much cheaper location, and shoot...holy f. It's the golden hen. Colors will try to keep it as long as possible.
