Housemates were heartless and insensitive towards Afsana

Note: I want to start by saying Afsana's ejection was fair and she deserved it for picking up knife. With that out of the way...

---

The entire scene before that was so painful to watch. I was wincing with horror. Here was a person, in plain sight having a nervous breakdown. And not one person took her hand and tried to take her to the room or to the bed.

She was having a breakdown. The remedy was not to reason or argue with her. It is a breakdown. You have to take that person away and try to calm them down. Instead Jay is loudly shouting at her and telling her she is wrong.

Only Umar was trying to calm her down. But being a guy he can't hug her without her permission. Teja should have stepped up, hugged Afsana and taken her away. Teja was walking around checking out the food and stuff.

Nobody treated a person having a breakdown with humanity. It's like if you see a person with a road accident in the middle of the road, you either pass by or shout at them for blocking the road. This is how the housemates behaved. Nobody helped her. Nobody calmed her. This is basic humanity.

They ALL KNOW she has had doctors called before for her anxiety attack. This wasn't news. Yet people were either attacking her or ignoring her. Nobody was helping her.

Maybe if she had been helped or calmed down. It wouldn't reach the stage that it reached.

---

Even after that Jay and Shamita seemed to be character assassinating her. Shamita made the statement - "I saw something in her eyes" when she had the knife. This is a reputation damaging statement for Afsana.

---

It is just tragic to see the problematic level this season has reached. A patient having a breakdown on national television is not helped at all by anyone.

People usually don’t know how to react in these situations. Someone is shouting , people think shouting louder will calm them down.
if someone is having nervous breakdown, they will think it’s all drama so let’s just yell at them to calm them down. I haven’t seen the episode but if it’s anxiety or panic attack, most people are not equipped to deal with them unless you have psych background or training .
thats why it’s big boss and team that should have stepped up.

That is why i pointed out - that this is Afsana's second panic attack and HMs know it. They know she has this condition and that doctors have been called for her for this condition.

Even knowing this nobody helped her and people kept ignoring and attacking her.

And in the end they were happy she was gone.

Great post. This was very unfortunate but agree, this house/environment/game is not meant for her. I hope she gets better outside.

So apt, you have raised the points so well....yes they have misused this issue....only Umar was the one trying to calm her down ,he even asked Rajiv to move aside and not to reply....agree to the core it should have dealt better

There is a stigma attached to mental illness. People think it is acting.

Please don't promote such stereotypes.

I know people who have nervous breakdowns and panic attacks. Trust me it is traumatizing. They feel like the world is ending.

These people need help. Please don't mock.

This is something that has become quite repetitive with Afsana. She shouts, beats herself and simply goes out of control. Now those who have been born and brought up in a cultured stable environment might not have encountered people like her in their real lives. Hence many may not be knowing how to deal with a grown woman throwing a ravaging tantrum. From the way she behaved calmly in the confession room and gave proper answers, that it was not her intention to cause any harm to herself or to others, it was evident that she just has anger issues not mental issues. Because no one can snap out of a panic attack in a jiffy.
