So I finally finished watching deewangi.
This drama had me hooked from the beginning to the end, though it was dragged a bit in the middle and I kind of started losing interest, but a few episodes later I was glued again.
I loved how it was bringing twists after twists. It was such a rollercoaster ride.
I usually hate dramas which overuse the OST in every scene until I get bored and feel like ripping my hair out, but here I didn't get bored of it even once. They made good use of such an addictive OST. It was probably because they used different lyrics in different scenes to go with the situation, rather than repeating the same lines again and again.
The director and editor have definitely done a marvellous job, though the story could've finished in a fewer episodes without the family drama scenes.
As for the characters, Sultan was a multi dimensional character with a lot of shades. Even though he was an obsessive psychopath, he still had the capability to love and care for his loved ones. This was evident in a couple of scenes like his Bi Jaan's death, and the way he protected Nageen even though he tried to believe that he hated her. The fact that he told the police that he tried to kill himself and Haroon was innocent proved that his 'deewangi' for Nageen was true and he didn't want her life to be spoilt. I just wish he had some character development through the story because his character had a lot of scope, but to me it felt like his character remained the same obsessed lover from beginning to end with no proper redemption. Perhaps if he redeemed himself and had changed his ways then he could have had a happy ending with or without Nageen.
Nageen was a bit of an irritating character at some points with her unnecessary rudeness to Sultan and to her in laws after her marriage with Haroon. Her screaming and yelling sometimes felt like too much. I did understand her character and the turmoil she went through though. I found it easy to relate to her character as I've come across many Pakistani girls from poor famillies who behave that way due to insecurities and complex.
I liked Haroon's character when he was introduced as a fun loving man with a sense of humour and supportive nature, but then his change in behaviour after marrying Nageen and becoming angry and impulsive all the time made no sense to me. Nageen may have hid secrets from him, but as far as I remember she never lied to him, because he made it clear to her that he didn't need to know about her past. So why did he make such a big deal of every issue when her past came in front of him? He was also a very gullible and naive character who just believed whatever anyone told him and was always suspicious.
Danish may have been a bad man, but to me Haroon was no better. He did not deserve Nageen in the end just as much as Danish did not.
A better ending for me would have been Haroon giving divorce to Nageen, Nageen taking revenge from Sultan by exposing him in public on their wedding day and then leaving him and leading an independent life.

Thanks for putting in ur details review 😊
Agree with you on everything. The middle did get boring so I skipped all the Haroon-Nageen scenes 😆 It wasn't until Sultan came back that the fun began. Post leap scenes were really a treat to watch. The main reason why the OST didn't feel repetitive is coz they used the instrumental instead of the lyric bits. So when we'd hear the Deewangi tune on sitar or there was just a little alaap and Deewangi sung in chorus, the overall impact was great.
Regarding the episode count, I would have reduced the number of episodes that showed Nageen's life after her wedding with Sultan was "called off". Mainly since we didn't see Sultan much, except for when he was suffering after his marriage to Narmeen. He was the soul of the show after all.
Post leap I had the same complaint that Sultan could have grown as a person. I get that he had lost everything and Nageen was his last chance at a happy life but two scenarios could have worked out:
1. Sultan redeems himself and helps Haroon selflessly and Nageen finds comfort in Sultan due to all the insults Haroon's family was throwing at her...she gradually falls back in love with him and they have a happy ending, with Rameen returning in Sultan's life.
2. Sultan does penance and helps her to settle with Haroon and finally finds love in an equal. I don't mean monetarily, but a girl who would love and respect him as much as he would love and respect her. And they would be a match in overall everything.
Although I must say he wasn't an obsessed lover throughout. He was a rich man who was lonely and had anger issues but even though he could get all the women in the world he had his boundaries; he experienced what he defined as "love" for the very first time but Nageen's behaviour was uncalled for. Even if she was not interested in talking to Sultan there was a way to say no, because he was not like the awara sadhakchaap who followed her friend around. The obsession started only after Nageen threw his card on his face, and there were multiple reasons why Sultan could not approach her family directly for her rishta...if I had to put it in one sentence, then he was not a normal regular person, he was the heir of a literal dynasty. And the obsession in the second half was due to Nageen being his last shot at happiness. Rameen being taken away broke him internally completely.
There is a reason I'll never like Nageen and you listed them correctly. Although she did not deserve Haroon and his family's shit.
Haroon was a decent guy, but his true nature actually got revealed when Sultan started to shower him with gifts. That's what Haroon was, he was a man who craved materialism and was blinded by the hunger for money. Sultan was not wrong when he said Haroon didn't deserve her...he saw right through Haroon's "act". So I didn't want Haroon-Nageen as endgame at all.
@bold: Lol I think u mean Sultan 😆
A part of me was hoping for a scene where Sultan would arrive at Haroon's house when Nageen was being yelled at by the family and he would step in between and stand up for her. And when Nageen would confront him, he would honestly tell her it was only because he loved her. Coz Sultan would've never left her, I am sure of that. She wasn't a game to him.
Given how the show quickly wrapped up, my ideal ending would've been Sultan helping Nageen-Haroon as his redemption and walk away from her life...she would chose what she wanted to stay with Haroon or no. And Sultan remaining single, which would pave way for season 2. They could bring Noora then 😆
And ye sab toh badiya hai, but Danish ki adaakaari kaisi lagi? 😆

Coz he started off on Hum TV na, toh usmein voh gratitude hai.
Hum pe content oriented shows bante hai like Parizaad, its not melodramatic isliye it doesn't get ratings like Geo and ARY. But Danish should do at least one Hum show soon which has a strong script. He needs the critical acclaim to shut everyone's mouth 😆
Phir bhale wapas aa jaye ARY/Geo par 😊
Ye dekho, Kadwani sahab ka ladka telefilm kar raha hai, ek dum Kabir Singh wala hai 😆 Motorbike bhi hai 😆 Deewangi jaisa rain scene bhi hai 😆
Dekha toh immediately khayal aaya ki agar Danish isme hota toh yaar kamaal ho jaata
Chalo dekh lo pehle sab 😆

I am glad you agreed with me.
I didnt even notice the typo where I wrote Danish...thanks for pointing it out🤣
That would have been an amazing ending with Danish becoming selfless and helping her. But did Haroon really need his help? If Nageen and Haroon were gonna stay together, he didnt need to become so greedy and materialistic. She kept telling him that she could remain happy with him without the money and luxury. Greedy Haroon shouldve just divorced her and married Ramsha😆
I really wish Sultan didnt die. They couldve even ended the show with him in the hospital and then brought season 2 where Nageen is unhappy with greedy Haroon who is still running after money and by that time she has realised that Sultan really loves her. And then Haroon couldve become the deewana lover who refuses to leave her alone🤣
I loved the acting of everyone in the show tbh. Hiba had scope for improvement but uske ilawa everyone was top notch, even the supporting cast.
Sultan is one of those characters who you love and hate at the same time.😆 Like in one scene I would be like oooooh wow I love him so much and then in the next ne he would plot something and I would be like I HATE HIM😆

Phir Danish likha tumne 😆
When I say help, I mean Sultan just helping Haroon to have some financial stability in his life taaki behen ki shaadi ho jaye and his mom, him, Nageen and their child(ren) would be able to live properly together. Usse zyada nahi. Haroon's entire family and even he was laalchi, last episode mein U-turn se kuch nahi hota hai 😆
Same, everyone was aptly cast in their roles but Danish ki on screen presence aisi hai ki koi aur dikhta hi nahi tha mujhe 🤣 Did this happen to u too? And award-worthy laga ki nahi 😆
Season 2 should've not had Nageen or anyone from sultan's past at all. Only his best friend Fawad should've been there. And new girl with Sultan would be perfect. Nageen and Sultan were not endgame, sorry, kabhi voh vibe hi nahi aayi.
I never hated Sultan, I simply couldn't bring myself to 😆 Even in the last episodes when the writers made him totally bad...that wasn't the Sultan I knew from the beginning. All the shit he did in the last 4 episodes was OOC for him.
But I understand what you mean by loving and hating him at the same time 😆

Idk about Feroze's work but it did look like a great deal of scenes were inspired from Deewangi. Like that rain sequence and the leads' forehead touching. The look is more Feroze than Danish...but ab ek hi Danish hai toh kya kare ☺️☺️
The heroine, Kinza Hashmi looks good and seems to be a good actress. I want her opposite Danish now 😆

Omg i didnt notice the typo again🤣
I didnt see any U turn in last episode...I mean he just appeared out of nowhere and took the blame to save Nageen and thats it. No apology, no closure, nothing.🤢 And I am sure if he got the opportunity to be rich again he would accept it in no time, even if it meant going abroad or whatever.
I am not that biased towards Danish I guess, mujhe sab ki performances dekh ke maza aaya. Idk about award worthy but I wouldnt say he did not deserve it. I am happy for him. I think in the last episode he outdid himself in his performance from the whole drama. He was so so good in the scene where he gets shot and then when he is dying in the hospital. It all looked so real in slow motion. I was getting goosebumps. I didnt even feel that way during MPTH when Danish ka heart stopped but he was still having a conversation.🤣 I was actually laughing that time instead of being emotional.
I think this is the first time I felt so sad seeing a bad guy dying. Yes for me Sultan is a badass.😆
Fawad to ek alag hi peice tha🤣 He had the potential of having his own love story with Rida🤣
Do you mean the shit he did as in killing Haroon and Ramsha? That confused me too because he kept saying that he didnt want to snatch Nageen from Haroon, he wanted her to come by herself. But then he was doing exactly the opposite when he joined hands with Ramsha. Like he didnt even want her past to come out or her to fight with Haroon, he just wanted her love. That was his only intention from what I understood. But then he started doing crazy things after Ramsha spoilt everything. Uss waqt I think he only cared about saving his own ass in the media😆
