Both movies were Blockbusters but were also criticized alot and considered problematic for glorifying their protagonists.

Which movie you dislike more and why?

I personally thiink both Sanju and Kabir Singh were problematic (in parts).

But when Kabir Singh backlash was at peak at 2019, I mostly heard 'Ad hominem' arguments from people who loved the film.🤔 Something along the lines of...

-- But Sanju also glorified misogyny, drug culture etc. Why did women have no problem then?

-- Preeti was flawed character too. She also slapped Kabir too.

-- Alia's character was toxic in Gullyboy. Why nobody had a problem then?

etc etc.

While these arguments do have a point, they completely miss the most important point (s) of all that ...

-- Kabir was a toxic, self-entitled prick with some serious anger issues.

-- The film also relegated the female character (Preeti) to a mere commodity. 😵

-- The visual grammar of the film was really BAD. The glorification was almost palpable.

Sanju had some serious issues as well, especially because those issues were quite intelligently encrypted in those lighthearted/comic/dramatic scenes in the film. But Sanju at least had repercussions, guilt and gradual redemption, while Kabir Singh only had entitlement, justification and rewards towards the end of the film.

Having said that, there are so many things that Kabir Singh got right, filmography, direction, performance, music etc etc.
