Jeffrey Archer to tour India...

F amous for Kane and Abel, infamous for his stint in prison, best- selling British author Jeffrey Archer is all set to add an Indi- an summer to his resume. Archer will come to India next month in a tour organised by Landmark, promoting his lat- est novel, A Prisoner of Birth. The book is already being hailed as the author's, "most powerful work after Kane and Abel" and deals with a man charged with murder who es- capes prison to re-establish himself... shades of The Count of Monte Cristo, according to a review in The Observer. The blogosphere is heating up with the prospect of the au- thor's first ever visit to the country On Archer's official . blog, www.jeffreyarchers. blogspot.com, the excitement is soaring. Announcing his In- dia trip, Archer writes, "Back on Wednesday with a hectic fortnight ahead of me before flying to India next month for another tour. I guess that will be very different to Australia and America." What is even more fascinat- ing is the response Archer has got after announcing his India tour. A blogger (Adit Minda) writes, "My excitement for your arrival in India has reached to its peak. I am read- ing A Prisoner of Birth and as expected it is brilliant. Eager- ly waiting for your arrival." The next one to follow asks, "What do you make of the new Indian Premier League cricket - will you catch a game while you are in India?" to which Archer responds, "My Indian tour is just being finalised now, so I don't know if I'll catch any of the cricket - but I hope so!"
