So, I haven't really watched an episode since Esha's entry, but I’ve been keeping up with the general gist of the storyline.
I've also seen various posts about how the characters are ruined and how they are irredeemable but I just wanted to bring light to the big picture here. The execution of the track is entirely up to the creatives and all we can do is take it with a few grains of salt.
Often times we wish for more logic in the storyline when things don’t add up. Some areas are bound to fall flat, particularly b/c of variables such as TRPs, pressure from the channel, etc.
However, when they show realistic things, the stuff that is actually a reality in people’s lives, we refuse to accept it. A story on TV, one which airs 6 days/ week requires a lot of work. A movie is easier b/c it is limited in duration. A TV show depicting fictional characters needs to be based in reality but it also needs to move forward.
Humans are prone to making mistakes and I think they’re doing a wonderful job of depicting the realities that plague real people’s lives and marriages. Real life is anything but a bed of roses.
So here's my take on why we should focus on the bigger picture and try to enjoy the show for the story, instead of getting stuck on the hiccups and cry moral outrage:
Pallavi and Raghav got married under terrible circumstances. Then there was Raghav's redemption, which we all appreciated. Irrespective of that, the foundation/root of their marriage was corrupted from the start. It eventually led to them falling in love but we have remember, they were essentially thrown into this marriage by external forces. They barely even knew each other. They were bound together by mutual physical attraction and a sense of connection that was never properly explored.
We know that Raghav came into this relationship with extreme baggage from his past, aka Esha, which he never processed properly and when there are such loose ends from one's past, it tends to resurface. Raghav was never capable of fully moving forward with Pallavi without resolving his own issues. Essentially, tying those loose ends.
Oh the other hand, Pallavi's loose end was Mandaar (and maybe her obscure past, which I'm hoping they get into at some point in the future). I assume the Mandaar track was supposed to have been executed differently, however, people don't take too kindly to female leads being tugged b/w two men, particularly when the male lead is pedastalized as Raghav was at that point. So they rushed and closed that chapter to preserve the sanctity of an ITV female lead (cue the eye roll).
Coming back to Raghav, this track opened the floodgates of his past. To some extent, they're trying to humanize him b/c that's what he is. A human male, capable of mistakes (as we all are). He's been shown to make mistakes on top of one another. He has cheated, lied, then told more lies to cover the previous ones. He's woven a complicated web, which is bound to trip him up and essentially, cause his fall from grace. Right now, we are privy to his deception, whereas Pallavi has been kept entirely in the dark. This build up is inching towards a massive explosion, for TRP obvs. It will pretty much shatter Pallavi, which I'm looking forward to b/c Shivangi is a fantastic actor.
Raghav's house of cards will eventually fall and Pallavi will leave him. Either physically from his life or just emotionally detach herself from him. Their needs to be some sort of separation b/c then it will be Pallavi's time to shine. She needs to crumble, fall, then rise from the ashes b/c she's been portrayed to be quite naive and idealistic. But life rarely is sunshine and rainbows, and that's the point of this whole thing.
I think they need to start from scratch.
Their relationship/marriage and love has no solid foundation. When they first realized their feelings for one another, they were already afraid and desperate. Their fear of being torn apart glued them together and they’ve been jumping hurdles without getting to catch their breath. They aren't even on the same page right now; it seems they lost each other somewhere.
If they are shown to separate, then maybe a short leap will allow them to come back to one other and fall in love once again. This time, all their cards will be laid bare and only then can they fully accept one another. They need to see each other for who they truly are. Raghav is no saint, and Pallavi needs to take off her rose-tinted glasses.
I'm hoping this is the route the story will take b/c we may get to see them actually falling in love with one another, flaws and all. I’m also a sucker for angst so I may be biased.
