🤣. Thanks for the heads up, that would be a lot for my poor sinusy head to take

Okay ... we clearly differ on many things here beginning with how we define love. To me, love is a sum total of your actions towards someone that stems from your positive feelings towards them, not just an abstract concept that you obsesses over. In that sense, just because you stop pursuing someone after they turn you down doesn't mean that you stopped loving them. It just means that you respect the other person's decision and would rather channel your energy to your own self and build your own life instead of obsessing over a lost cause. But yeah, if someone starts doing crazy things just to spite the person who turned them down, that's not love, that's just entitlement and resentment, the kind that leads to horrific incidents like acid attacks or worse.

But coming back to the original topic, I was talking about SRK claiming to find his unrequited ishq very powerful and kinda glorifying it even though Ash is not interested in rekindling their relationship. I find that extremely toxic cuz we only have one life to live. I'm a believer of living your life the best way possible and martyrdom in unrequited love (and taking pleasure in that, if you go with SRK here) is not a part of that. Obsessing over a lost cause is no way to spend your precious time while you're here.

I think you're reducing one sided love with obsession when I just don't see it that way. Obsession can happen even when both sides love each other.

I never said that not moving on from your love means they have to do crazy or horrific things like acid attack. Not moving on doesn't mean you continue pursuing your love. It just means that your ex is still a part of you. She's still in your heart and you can't allow anyone else in that place.

Talking about the scene, it's OTT but I get the gist of what SRK is saying. Aish is not interested in rekindling the relationship, and SRK is not forcing her either. He's not stalking or begging her to come back to him.

He just refuses to move on and he's happy with his one sided love. It's not easy to love someone who doesn't love you back so he considers his love powerful, because Aish not loving him back didn't stop him to stop loving her.

I dont agree with the philosophy either.

And I think there was a dialogue somewhere as to why they split up.

Frankly speaking I'm quite annoyed with this scene, because I would love to see SRK and Aish in a full fledged movie together but all they get is,

1. being brother-sister

2. she, love interest but a ghost

3. they split and he dies

4. One scene to share the screen

A friend recently pointed out that ADHM is a loose copy of 'Those People.' It is clearly a love story built around bitter vindictive unrequited love by KJO.

----

Unrequited love is a rite of passage for most people. It can be beautiful because I think there is potential for so much growth and learning. But it can be very toxic as well where you don't move on and continuously hurt people. This is a toxic example because he clearly hasn't moved on and makes it difficult for her to be happy and move on by constantly bringing it up.

This makes more sense for me -

I don't think people ever stop loving people. Even after breakups, divorces, and even death, the love is still there. But it evolves and changes. You grow and make room in your life to love others. It's unreal to expect people to stop loving - but it is very realistic to expect them not to be toxic about it.

Do you agree with the philosophy which is espoused here?

She was absolutely cringeworthy in this scene. So artificial
