Dhanush carried on which hand?

Why do they show Ram, Laxman, Bharat and Shatrughan carrying bows in their right hands. In old Ramayan they showed them carrying on their left shoulders and even if you see any pictures of Shri Ram and Laxman it is also carried on the left shoulder. So does anyone know why are they showing carrying it on right shoulder/hand??? It is annoying? Isn't it ??

well i can't say anything abt it but in the prithvi raj chauhan show they also showed prithvi carrying the bow in his right hand !!

The guy playing Prithvi right now (Anas I think is his name) is left-handed and he portrays Prithvi as left-handed most of the time. This is a big contradiction with how the character was portrayed earlier by Rajat. I am assuming that Anas is also left-eye dominant in addition to being left-handed. A left-eye dominant archer always holds the bow with his right-hand and vice versa. Now if the archer uses his right-hand to hold the bow then it follows that he will carry the bow on his right shoulder and vice versa. At least that's what I know. This would explain why Anas carries the bow in his right hand in the PRC serial.

In fact, even if we forget about the eye-dominance thing, Anas the actor will still be using his dominant hand - ie the left one - to pull the string and hence he will be using his right-hand to hold the bow. 😉

Now, back to Ramayan: I think the simple reason for the way the brothers handle the bow is that the creatives did not bother doing much research on archery or they are simply being careless. The actors are just using their dominant hands to hold the bows (like an untrained person would do) and carrying on with the scenes without giving any thought to the archery aspect. Plus the scenes are not action-heavy at all but emotional (and hence they don't even have to bother about this at all). Most people are right-handed and I think the actors on this show are all right-handed and hence this situation. The creatives should have been more careful, since Shri Ram and his brothers were trained archers and would never have made this noobish mistake. 😆

Since PRC is more action-heavy, Anas has probably adapted to all the sword-fights and archery stunts he has to do. Hence he carries the bow in the hand that is correct for him: the right hand (as he is left-handed). Unfortunately Rajat played PRC as a right-handed person and so it would have been better if Anas had made an effort to carry the bow in the left hand. If not Anas, the director or someone from the creatives should have realized this.

Both PRC and Ramayan are Sagar Arts shows and this goes to show they are not focusing on these details and it is care for details that makes the difference between a great show and a mediocre one. 😉

while going on authentic track for a quite some time they will never give you complete satisfaction coz suddenly you will point out a fatal mistake

we point them out and discuss and make fun in PRC forum, and soemtimes we would see i guess based on feedbacks, some of them being rectified.

but ramayan is a more serious thing. Bearing in mind about freedom of speech and everything, we cannot make fun with them. ramayan is more seriuos issue .

hence all we can do is pray that teh creative heads soon realise the mistakes

at least they dig into the older vesion and see what is going on

i agree wid u but i dont pay much notice and i wasnt even born at d time of old ram.....
