They always spoil everything with this behaviour!

Imagine what would happen when the episode airs... 😆

Given the popularity Sairat has, do you think this would have been the case, I mean Aish accompanying Neil if she was not dating him?

I understand that we cannot view things from our PoV since everyone's expectations, reactions in a relationship might be different. For example, my friend and her husband had a heated argument, he slapped her out of frustration. She slapped him back again and he started crying out of hurt 😆. A few hours later, they were fine. Also, SaiRat marriage is very unusual - there is no anchor to steady the ship when the sea is rocky. Many couple's relationship goes through a toxic phase - where they say mean things to each other, deliberately try to hurt the other person (verbally) and take pleasure when the other person sheds tears. But everything happens within the confines of their bedroom. There is never public humiliation, no crushing of self-respect involved. And definitely no ex or emotional connection with an ex. Sometimes, when a spouse is too emotionally attached to a friend of opposite gender, it can cause problems. They then learn to maintain boundaries.

For most part, Virat's self-absorption doesn't surprise me. I've seen a few emotionally disturbed people who are very very self-absorbed in a relationship. Nightmare for the partners but they stick around (for more than decades even) because the other person is essentially good at heart - the core is good. I'm beginning to even disbelieve that about Virat - that his core is good. I used to believe that he is in essence a good person (despite his huge flaws), he is not inherently selfish or egoistic (although he does gets bouts of both at times) or dishonest or shallow. But now I can no longer vouch for his character - his core. My mind is seeing all his previous behaviour in a negative light - I see him variously as a dishonest, shallow, selfish, patriarchal, manipulating person.

Tagging a few. Don't have to answer. I'm just venting. And no, I'm not analysing. 😆

A friend of mine, who is not on the Forum, she watches Ghum too and we were discussing it offline.

The reason for the show's success is that this kind of characters do resonate with real life people. There are plenty of men like Virat who are successful, good people on the outside but who are completely dominating with their wives, and totally self absorbed with themselves, their families and their needs.

I have seen and am sure many of us have seen men like Virat, completely spoilt at home, so used to being put on a pedestal that anyone who mildly criticises them causes trauma and they become vicious. How is he a nice, good person then?? The brunt of it is faced by the partners, that's a fact!

I have a friend who had a lot of issues in her marriage. She's a north indian married to a south indian. SHe used to fight with him because his family was really rigid. Now she used to literally slap her husband, throw things down when they had fights. She has told me this. And he was this calm person who would never react, she was always known as the 'reactive'person. He expected her to toe the line with his family. Period. She even walked out of the marriage, came back ...all that drama happened.

After their son came along, the little boy started getting physical in school and there were lot of complaints that he used to fight with the other kids. then, I think she went for counselling etc. 'They ' didnt , she went ironically. isn't it so typical? It's the woman who makes the effort to change.

Now after so many years, they are a totally normal couple. She has toned down a lot. but she just toes the line with whatever her husband wants, and keeps the peace and marriage running. She also has developed other interests like running marathons etc. So I cannot say that she is suffering but she has gone through a lot. Emotional abuse is very very common, is what I am trying to say. She can never pinpoint and say he did this, till today I don't know.

SO what Sai is going to be doing henceforth is normal and therefore understood by a lot of women.

But I guess they will show her walk away after a point. The writer has obviously seen a lot of life and written these characters with insight..of course more dramatically.

Vankar can easily go one step further and make Virat realise his behaviour. Well, he does know, today there were lot of indications but will he change? TRP will not fall, they need not change a thing, but that realisation because he is the so called 'hero' should come in.

Hmmm... I understand what you are saying. I've seen such men from afar and they are certainly not nice people. Virat is seriously becoming scarier.

I somehow think it's too late to recover Virat. They blew the chance they had. They should have stopped all his nonsense after Ajinkya kaand. This 'face' of Virat that they have shown ....it went too far....I don't believe he can be convincingly toned down and made into a sensitive, caring person. No matter how hard they try.

Yes, in KD Emon eventually leaves Rono (only to be reunited in the end ). But in ghum, I'm pretty sure the narrative will be neither here nor there. They will make him do all nonsense and continue to spin the narrative of sacha pyaar.
