They were able to hide so many things, her pregnancy. Even though it was so absurd that no one found out, when the family actually were there at later stage of pregnancy..

So, they could hide so many things, why didn't they even think of a option of making Madhu just a surrogate, (It would have been same thing right, same lie they could use that Madhu's husband is out for work, everything same...just Raj wouldn't have to be involved with Madhu) They didn't even try to find information about IVF, whether they could settle with doctors to not leak the news to the media.. [If they wouldn't even have mentioned about IVF, I would be like okay, maybe that was not discovered in the movie world, but they mentioned this and just directly refused that idea!

Even if the news was leaked, they could have calmly explained to his grandfather that the child would be their own blood, right even if someone else bore them? Just own blood was needed, wasn't it?! Just Raj's, Priya's blood was not at all imp?!

I agree

This is what I don't understand too. What was the sense of not making Madhu the surrogate

I watched it when I was 15 or 16. . Loved it. The story from Pretty Woman made more sense with the surrogacy twist. It was good that they broached the subject back then. The part where Rani gladly lets him sleep with Priety was unrealistic though . Turkey basters were not unheard of :p. The songs were good yes. I used to drive my mother nuts when I played that Aiyyaaaa Aiyyoooh one . She thought it was disgusting.

Ending of Preity's character was tragic. She didn't accept any money for giving Salman and Rani their child because according to her it would seem like a mother took price of her baby.

Way to demean surrogate mothers! She also said she won't fall in love with any other man again as she won't let anyone come close to her. So she would remain a man woman all her life with no family of her own, while the man she's in love with would enjoy his life with his wife and kid.
